I set 14 eggs and Saturday was the the hatch day. 2 were not fertile and 1 had a blood ring. The other 11 was fine on day 18. Only 2 hatched Saturday and 2 today. What can I do for a better hatch rate. The temp was 100 all the way to the end. I have a home made cooler incubator. The humidity...
I posted this in the emergency forum yesterday with no answer so I thought I would try here today.
Okay I just had a hen die with impacted crop (I think). Now this morning (yesterday now) my rooster was last to come out of coop and he was hopping kinda and flapping his wings jerking his head...

Okay I just had a hen die with impacted crop (I think). Now this morning my rooster was last to come out of coop and he was hopping kinda and flapping his wings jerking his head side to side. It seems like I read something on BYC about this but now I cant find it. Is there something wrong?
Hey guys and gals the temp has been way below normal here so I dont know if it has anything to do with this green poop or not. On the ground it is green liquid frozen of course. On the hen it runs down her feathers it is not caked around her vent just on the feather. She is staying to herself...
I was wonder if you guy or gals use sand in your run or coop and if so what do you think about it? Can you still rake out the poop or what? Is it messy???
Today is day 18 and I just decided to check last night to see if my digital thermometer was correct and it was not. It is 3 degrees off. It has been 96 degrees the whole time. I candle them and they look fine but some look small or not developed enough. what do you think?

How do you make a wet bulb thermometer

Are the better or worse than a digital on that measures relative humidity

My rooster is very young and just has started mating about a month ago. I have 26 eggs in the incubator and I just candled them at day 3 and no veins or anything. Is the rooster just too young. It is just the one roo and 5 hens.
I have eggs that were due to hatch today. 6 have hatched so far starting yesterday morning and the last of the 6 this morning. I have 6 eggs remaining that have not pipped. When I candled I saw chickens moving on day 18 in all of the 12 eggs that I had. Should I crack them open?
First hatch ever and they are due Saturday. I got home last night (Thursday) and one had started to pip. This morning it was zipped and coming out. It is a day early is that ok and wont that be a long time to stay with no food or water until the rest hatch?
My incubation was around 47% and this morning I cranked it up and its at 80%. The glass is wet and cant hardly see inside. Is this to high? It is Miss Priss home made Chick bator with fan I am using.
Thanks
I have seen people use dog wire instead or chicken wire for the fence of choice. I went with chicken wire because its about a third the price. But I was wondering if any one has ever had something bite though chicken wire. What do you use on your pen?
I have chickens and want to get a guinea only for the alarm the make. Do I need more than 1 or will it be fine with the other chickens. Can you eat guinea eggs?
I have also set my first eggs last Saturday and from ready on BYC the humidity question varies from person to person but around 40 -50 day 1- 18 and then 50 -60 day 18 - 21 is about what I am finding. I just got finished reading a couple of books about chickens and they both have way higher...
Hey guys I am going to set some eggs this weekend for the first time ever. I made the Miss Prissy chic o bator. I am excited. I cant find anywhere info on if I should remove the egg carton on day 18 or just leave it in. I will be tilting the whole bator so the eggs will be in an eggs flat. I...
