I have a 7 week old White Wyandotte pullet, that opens her mouth frequently, like she is trying to pop her ears, or doing a quick yawn.
Has anyone else seen this?
Other than that, she is perfectly normal.
I am going to convert my shed into a coop for my 12 hens & 1 roo. It would be a big help if I can get some visual ideas for the layout! Nesting boxes, perches etc...

I adopted some chicks, was told they were a Bantam cross. This black one though, I can not figure out. She is smaller than the rest, and a little more neurotic. She does have minimal feathering on her legs.
Any ideas what breed she may be?

I have 5 week old bantam chicks, 2 of them are at each others throats! I assume that they must both be roosters?
My question is, do I let them keep duking it out? Or should I separate them?

I am hearing mixed reviews on what to do with your "extra" roosters. Used to be when I was young, we would either find them new homes, or process them as dog food. However, someone told me the other day that if you butcher the rooster early enough that it's still good eatin'. Is this true?
