    Wazine and hatching eggs

Incubator question for you all, I have seen some suspicious poops and want to get every one wormed. I know the withdrawal for eating eggs is 2 weeks on Wazine. Would these eggs be suitable for incubation?

Northwest Georgia Swap day at TSC

So last weekend I went to a "trade day" at a local Tractor Supply Co. When I called, they said it was for local small businesses and homesteaders/farmers to come and set up to sell or trade. I loaded up a few spare roosters, some fantail pigeons, and an old hen who was being picked on by...

    New coop for Furryfeathers Farm

So I started with my old coop (empty about 15 years). 5x8 or so. Got a few hens, then a few more. Enlarged the run, got a few more. Finally decided that while selling eggs is fun, I would LOVE to sell hatching eggs and baby chicks, so we needed a way to separate breeds occasionally at...

Hens sleeping (and pooping) in the nest boxes

Help! My birds have plenty of perches, and 4 nest boxes. The hens basically use 2 of the nest boxes, but they sleep and poop in all 4. What can I do to discourage this? I'm tired of poopy eggs, and they think that clean shavings means go poop it up!

    Flock integration-

I have 14 five month old RIRs. A couple are starting to lay, the others are holding on to their puberty as long as possible LOL. I also have 5 sexlinks, over a year old. Then add in 2 five month old roosters, Olive eggers, but still submissive to the hens and no crowing. Now I have a rabbit...

    Good day! 4 eggs

I'm thrilled! We have 12 hens, with 6 being young RIR, and 6 Comets or perhaps Stars. We got the older ones two weeks ago and saw no eggs the first week. Second week we got one egg a day for 3 days, then 2 eggs for a couple days. We had 3 days with 3 eggs, and today we are up to 4! Can't wait...

Returning to chickens after 15+ years

I had chickens for several years, but haven't had any for about 15 years. Egg prices doubled (and are still going up) and hubby and I talked about keeping some chickens for eggs to eat and sell. We bought our first 8, young RIR, about 4 months old now, then traded a goat for 5 Comets. A friend...

Reusing a 17 yr old house.

We hadn't had chickens in about 15 years. The house was in my field, complete with run. We moved it this weekend, and today got it level and added a pen. Right now the house is 5' x 8', and the run is 10' x 16'. The 12 hens and 2 roosters seem thrilled! We are going to add an easy fill...
