    Saxony ducklings--can color tell gender?

I have hatched...well, technically, still hatching ;) some saxony ducklings from eggs purchased off eBay. I have 3 that are all cute and fluffy in the brooder. Of those 3, one is lighter in color with more grey. Could this be an indicator of gender?

Is this a herniated naval? Help please!

I have duckling that has hatched almost completely, but is still attached at the bottom of the shell. Some of my others had a hard time dropping the bottom of the shell, but we're only attached by thin cords that I was able to snip off. What can I do for this little guy? Tie it off? I have him...

How do you mark loose air cells

I have 12 saxony duck eggs that were shipped. They all had awful air cells that rolled from one end to the other. After incubating upright without turning for 24 hours, then keeping at a 45° angle and turning from sided to side, the air cells now stay at the top of the egg but are jiggly. If you...

    Newbie needs help with incubation

I set 6 eggs from one of my hens late day on the 10th. I have to take my daughter for 24 hour medical testing this morning. I had planned to start the lockdown process before leaving, but am second guessing that plan on account that my air cells seem on the small side. I don't want to raise the...

Is it better to lockdown early or late?

I am a first time hatcher and set 6 eggs late day on the 10th. I have to take my daughter for a 24 hour medical test this morning. I had planned to lockdown before I left, but am having second thoughts bc I feel my air sacs are on the small side. I don't want to up the humidity any sooner than...
