    Do chickens do best with their own breed or can we mix?

    Finally taking the plunge, and we're about to order some day-old chicks (pullets). We'd prefer to get 4 different breeds for variety's sake, but I'm not sure if it's ok to do that or if we should stick with one or two breeds. Assuming it's ok, we're planning to get a White Rock, Barred Rock...

    Is this shed worth $800 (+cost to convert to coop)

    8x4, roof slopes down to 6 feet high. Want a full size shed for deep litter method. But, I don't have time/ability to build it myself. What do folks think? Good deal for $800 or should I hold out. I could easily add a couple of windows for ventilation and a door and then build a run.

    New here and to keeping chickens. We're looking for something that will look nice, preferably a walk-in coop, and something that will stand up to the New England winters. Came across this on Craigslist, but I'm skeptical, as a google search didn't produce any reviews or anything...
