Is this Mushy Chick and what should I do with the chick?
They are still in the incubator drying out.
Is this just a cull situation? Or can it get better on its own at all? It seems to not have any other symptoms except the fluid sac on its low back.

I’ve been wanting to write one of these for a while. Im terrible at keeping up with a blog but I’d like to try! Keep me honest guys and if I falter and don’t update for a while bash down the thread door until I offer one.
It all started in April 2016. I wanted my own eggs. I can’t really...
Hello all!!
I am wanting to try my hand on breeding a uniquely colored Brahma, utilizing the types I am currently attempting to get. This is a rough sketch of a project but I want it to really flesh out soon.
I have gotten:
Dark Brahma
Blue Brahma
Gold Brahma
(all of these have what I...
This is our first hatch along at our brand new farm!! We have two Nature Right incubators ready to go.
We will be setting 30 (plus a few more) eggs. They will be dark/gold/blue Brahmas, Brahmacaunas, OE/EE eggs from Darling Poultry and Honey Bea Homestead, in Maine.
Honey Bea’s dozen are under...
So I am hoping to start spiral breeding for a few breeds and I was wondering;
Do you keep the 4 clan coops as the breeding coops but put the breed not currently being bred in a different area so you can keep them together but put them with the rooster when it’s time to actually get fertilized...

Hi!
My chickens are all 18 weeks this weekend. Three of the pullets are very red in the face and their wattles are really dangling so I was wondering if I should expect an egg any day now from either of them. I have 12 total, but these three are the ones that have the reddest faces and largest...
Here are my two BO chicks. They are 4 weeks old. I know it's still too early to tell but I thought I saw some pinking on one of the combs of Ariel. They were purchases from a farm with a 90% sexing rate for pullets so they are suppose to be female, but you never know.
Pics in the next post.
HI!!
Tomorrow is chick adoption day! We are going to a local farm and picking up 10 or 12 chicks! I will document their life here.
I also set up a facebook page where I will occasionally have videos (okay often!!) and update more on pictures and random ramblings.
I will use both this post...
Hi Everyone.
My name is Ashley. My husband and I live in coastal southern Maine, pretty close to the coast. We have three small children, 5, 2 and 10 months old. My husband said he wanted some chickens YESTERDAY. He hates ticks, with a passion and I suppose he read somewhere recently that...
