For a few days now I've seen a rat in the coop and run at night time. This morning I found the rat dead by the entrance with a hole in its chest. Is it possible one of my 14 hens killed it? I'm just glad its gone now and my hens are all OK.
So I have 2 Polish hens that are white egg layers. I get 2-3 eggs a day with them. I also have 9 other second generation red sex links in the same run. I know that one is a rooster because he crows. The others I'm waiting to hear crows but none yet. This morning I went out to collect eggs and I...
I posted 5 of my sex links a few weeks back and had one person respond and tell me all cockrels. I know one definetly is because he crows now and it's so cute. But all?
Here they are:::
I honestly thought that the 1,3,4 were pullets and #2 a cockrel.

Thank you all for your help in advance. This is the first time I've had chickens.
I'm a 38 year old city girl living in the country now. Recently got chicks and goats. Very excited! I was born and grew up.in NJ and live in NC now. I'm new to chickens so I am sure I will need a lot of advice and learn a lot from all of you!
I purchased these chickens from a local hardware store and I have been told they are Rhode Island Reds. This is my first time having chickens.
