6mo old cochin, not eating/drinking, tail down, lethargic

I have a 6 month old cochin who has not started laying yet. This morning she had been laying in the coop while her sister was on the nest. I thought she was waiting her turn to lay her first egg. She's been squatting, red comb and wattles, eating shell and showing interest in the nest. I...

Three year old cuckoo marans hen with watery poop.

We have a 3yo marans hen and a 3yo faverolles hen. They're both in good shape, laying eggs, eating and drinking. The marans has splashy, watery brown poo with no visible sign of worms, the faverolles has normal poo. Their run is dry. They eat Kalmbach layer and some Kalmbach scratch. They get a...

Nearly 5 wk.old chicks sneezing and head shaking

I just put them on Tylosin water soluble powder, 1 teaspoon/ gallon x 7 days, just started today. Is there anything else I should be doing for them? They just got done with Corid for bloody stools. It seems like if it's not one thing it's another with this group of girls. ETA: one of the...

Bloody stool in 2 week old chick

11 yo hen with suspected mycoplasma

I suspect my 11 yo buff orp has mycoplasma. She's been sneezing and has a runny nose, and a few bubbles in the corner of her eye. She's an indoor girl, but goes out with the flock for a couple of hours daily. I just noticed the symptoms on Thursday and started Tylan. She's isolated and improving...

    Preventing frostbite

Hi all! I have a poor little Faverolles that has had her beard picked off by her sister. We're working on the picking issue, but this poor girl has a bare throat. The temps are supposed to dip below zero and I'm wondering what I can put on the bare area to prevent frostbite. When she drinks, her...

Littles won't stay in the coop.

They are fully integrated with our three bigs, a 10 yo Buff Orpington, an 8 year old Jersey Giant, and a 1 year old Speckled Sussex. They all get along well. The Jersey Giant will...

Introducing a single rescue hen, any advice?

Long time reader (and learner), first time post. We rescued a young (near 1 yo) Australorp hen and are trying to integrate her into our flock. She was quarantined and we did the "see but not touch" method of introducing her. The girls (we have 4 others who are all around 3 yo) all showed...
