I picked up 3 chicks that were together and classified as bantam chicks. 2 look similar. The 3rd does not. They were all together and well I brought them home.
I have a flock of RIR hens(approx 22), 2 BR hens & 2 BR Roosters.. I'm thinking about adding 3 More reds & 2 Orpington hens (pullets). (Yes looking for good mama's) It is time to add to the flock so everyone isn't molting at the same time. So is it a good idea adding the Orpingtons?
My flock was 4 Barred rock roosters & 21 RIR hens. Today I swapped 2 of the roosters for 2 barred rock hens. I am concerned about introduction.. how???
With all the things I am learning, I was just thinking about what got me started with chickens. And was wondering what kinds of stories like mine are out there.... So I would like to see. As I gather my thoughts to words maybe someone would like to share first.
We started a chicken coop. Started with 35 chicks. (In April)learned about the Cornish cross the hard way. (Had 10 one by one 4 died & the remaining 6 got easily 12 to 14 lbs before I gave them up. They took up too much room & caused stress with the rest of the flock.) The 5 barred rock turned...
