    feeding breeding chickens

    I am new to raising chicks. I was reading that breeding chickens should be getting a special feed that is higher in protein that contains certain minerals and such. Is this true, or will a good quality layer ration be sufficient? What are you guys feeding your breeding hens and Roos?

    hen or rooster?

    We though we had all hens, but noticed as we were sorting today that one of our year old buff Orpingtons is larger, and has a bigger comb and wattle. Here is a hen the same age

    hello from east TN

    What started as a simplle small hobby quickly got out of hand, lol. We have now acquired a couple roosters and are currently incubating our first set of eggs! We mainly have buff Orpingtons and RIR. I am so excited to be here and learn, learn, learn!
