Black Walnut Tree Mulch - Safe?

Hi! I’m looking into getting natural mulch for my chicken run. I know black walnut trees can be toxic to gardens but what about using the tree as mulch in a chicken run? Toxic to them? Toxic to my garden that is close by? Not worth the risk? Thanks!

What breed or gender? Approx. 8 weeks

Hi everybody! I bought four “heavy pullets” from TSC and I just wanted to make sure this one is a female and also ask anyone’s expertise on what breed she may be. Who Laid This Egg?

Hi everyone! So I have a mixed flock of 2 red sex link hens (about 4 years old), a 6 month old Ameracauna rooster, and a 6 month old Welsummer hen. My rooster's comb and wattle are very bright red and though he hasn't been crowing, he's definitely started to assert his dominance (at least over...

    New Chicken Owner Questions

Hi guys! So I've had four two-year-old chickens for about two weeks now and just have some general questions about their looks/behaviors. All four are red sex-link hens. Okay, so the first thing I've noticed/questions is some missing feathers on only one hen's lower neck/upper breast region...

    Hello from Pennsylvania!

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I'm brand new to chickens, but my mother has experience with them from her grandfather's farm. (2) How many chickens do you have right now? Right now we are in the process of getting 3-4 ready to lay pullets or taking over some...
