hi everyone! I was thinking about one day hatching out some eggs and I was thinking what would happen if I hatched more cockerels than pullets. Of course everyone wants more pullets but the reality is that you get half of each. People say that they keep their chickens in a 1:10 ratio of roosters...
i have been told by some people that they think this chick is a hen but she acts more like a cockerel. She fights with my cockerel chick and is very brave when exploring. She is one week younger than my other two chicks but weighs more than the other two did when they were the same age - this...
i can’t sex this chick because I have never had one the same breed as it. It’s dad is a silkie and it’s mum is either a black ausrslorp, bluebell or cream leg bar. It is 5 weeks old
my chicks are 5 weeks old now and I want to know if I should take their electric hen heat source away. I also don’t know how old they have to be to go outside full time considering it is the middle of December?
i am running out of chick crumb and my chicks are 5 weeks old. I am going to get some growers pellets but I don’t know how much they will eat or how fast they will go through it. Please comment how much your chicks eat, thanks.
Please help me sex my three chicks!
4 weeks old cream legbar cross, I think it is a boy??
Another 4 week old cream legbar cross, I think it’s a girl?
3 week old silkie cross (blue bell or black australorpe) I have no idea on gender.
Should I be worried if my chicks are fighting? They do it a lot and I am worried that they might hurt each other if this continues into adulthood. Does the fighting mean that they are boys? Any knowledge of this would be much appreciated. Thanks x
i have some chicken grit and don’t know how old my chicks need to be before I give it to them. My chicks are currently 3 weeks old and they eat chick crumb and peck at their bedding.
i am having trouble sexing my chicks and I would like some advise. I have 3 chicks and this is some info about them:
Yellow chick: cream legbar cross, load and playful, can jump very high, 2 and a half weeks old.
Brown chick: cream legbar cross, shy but can jump high as well, 2 and a half weeks...
hi everyone, I opened up my unhatched eggs and found one (albino!!) silkie chick with its yolk inside its vent. The chick was fully formed and filled the egg tight but I guess couldn’t get out. Here are some pics of it, please comment if this has happened to you, know what it is or how to...
hi everyone,
I only had one of my eggs that I incubated hatch so I am going to buy a couple more chicks to keep him company, but I want to make sure that I don’t end up with any more boys. I know that cream leg bars are easy to sex but I’m not sure if they will be easy because the ones that I...
one of my eggs pipped at least 5 hours ago and still hasn’t started zipping around yet, should I be worried about it and do I need to do anything? Also my other two eggs haven’t pipped yet, does anyone else’s eggs hatch at very different times?
i have a rcom 10 pro incubator and it canes with an air filter that you put inside during the lockdown period, my eggs are supposed to hatch in 2 days and I can’t find the little filter. Will this affect my chicks and if so should I put some sponge in instead?
my Incubator is set to 45% humidity and has been 60-65% for the first few days and it won’t go down, I have tried setting it lower and opening vents but it doesn’t make a difference. Will this affect my chicks development/hatching and does anyone know how to lower the humidity in thier incubator?
