Hello! I have a broody silkie who has kicked out all of her eggs but one, and her one egg is hatching.
The baby pipped earlier today, maybe four ours ago. Silkie momma has been switching around nests with one of my other broody hens that acts as a baby sitter, and I’ve checked on the chick just...
My hen was attacked yesterday and we found her in the coop last night with some tail feathers missing so we thought that was the problem. We realized today that it’s not. Pleeeaaase help. What do we need to do and can we even save her? If it would be better for her we’re willing to put her down...
So I’ve been thinking about maybe line breeding some of my chickens, but not the usual kind of line breeding. I want to line breed two chickens of different breeds. Possibly a silkie and a mottled Cochin or silkie and a Mille fleur D’uccle, but I was wondering if it’s safe to line breed like...
I’m So we’re re trying to hatch eggs but want to know exactly what we’re hatching. I have two Porcelain d’uccles, one brown Brahma bantam, and a white silkie. We’ve just started getting eggs from them so we’re going to wait a little longer before we start putting them in the incubator, but I was...

This is one of my friends chickens and she sent me a picture asking if she was sick. I’m pretty sure it’s molting, but I told her I would check with the professionals first. Thank you in advance for all help! :D
So, as some of you know, I’ve recently ordered chicks from Meyer hatchery.
We ordered four chicks from the feather footed bantam assortment, which includes the chance of getting Cochins, braumas, d’uccles, and silkies. It says that we are guaranteed to get three different breeds. I’m really...
Today we went out to tend our chickens and noticed that one of our older Bovan Brown hens has suddenly gotten a floppy comb. She’s pretty latgargic as well, sometimes standing in one spot with her eyes closed. We’ve had other chickens become lathargic like this about six months ago. Four...
So we found Meyer hatchery, and were planning to order three D’Uccle bantams. We were blown away that the prices were so affordable and the availability of the chicks compared to the other hatchery we’ve ordered from in the past.
All good things, but I’ve begun to worry if it was too good to...
We hatched this chick under a broody and we were almost positive it was a pullet, but now we’re second guessing ourselves. It’s a cross breed but we don’t know of what breeds. We think Rhode Island Red and EE cross but not sure.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Hi guys! I’ve become obsessed with the d’Uccle chickens and I wanted to see how many other people had this beautiful breed.
Just post pictures of your chicken babies, tell their names if they have names, and you can also tell us a little story!
These are a couple of pics of my cock, his...
Could someone please tell me how long it take Mille Fleur d’Uccle cocks to mature and be able to breed/fertilize eggs? I bought him hoping that I could have a family of d’uccles. I already have a laying female and now I’m just waiting on my cock to mature. He’s only two mouths old so I know it...
We just got this two month old Mille Fleur d’Uccle were wondering if anyone could help us find out if it’s a cock or pullet. It loves grooming, roosting, and snuggling of that helps figure it out or not.
Thanks in advance and any advice is appreciated!

We hatched this pullet and we were wondering what breed it could be. I don’t know if it’s a cross or not because one of our friends gave us the egg from their farm. If it is a cross what is it a mix of?
Any info is appreciated! Thanks!
We have been letting our broody sit on five eggs in the coop that we keep four other hens in. Four of the eggs just hatched and I’m getting kind of nervous about leaving the momma and her babies in the same coop as the bigger hens.
The mother is a bantam and the four other hens that share the...
One of our bantams has started sitting on our other chickens eggs. She puffs her feathers out and let’s out this horrific sound until we go away. It’s gotten so bad that we have to pick her up and move her off the eggs. We don’t even have a rooster so the eggs can’t be fertile.
We know that...
My chickens have laid perfect eggs for me for about a year now. A week or so ago I noticed that we were having less eggs, but that wasn’t what was bothering me. One of our chickens (I can’t tell which one) has started laying eggs that are white instead of the light brown color and the egg has...
We just got fifteen new chicks from my pet chicken and one of the bantams seems to not be moving. The others are walking all over her and I’m worried about her. Is she sleeping? Any advise will help, thanks in advance.
im getting fifteen new chicks the week of February 26! I wondered if anybody had some good names. Breeds:
-Golden and silver laced Wyandottes
-Mille Fleur d’uccle bantams
-Speckled Sussex
-Barred rock
-Easter eggers
Anything will work! Be funny if you like! :D
Do ceramic eggs really make a difference in the laying speed of your chickens? I’ve read that they encourage chickens to lay more but I don’t know if that is just when they are laying for the first time. Anybody know anything about this? Will try anything that helps my girls lay more!
