Hello!
So I have the nurture right 360 and I'm struggling with humidity. If I add water to only A, with the vent completely open, humidity is hanging around 50-52% (with a calibrated hygrometer)
Humidity in my house is not that high, and without water in either well, it hangs around 25%.
So...
I just had to share the three eggs I was happy to find together in the nest box this morning.
I thought it was just a beautiful assortment and brightened my day.
Clockwise from 12: SLW (Elsa), EE (Belle), and EE (Nala)
Looking for advice- this is my first flock and they are 5 months old, and so far I have not had to deal with any ailments.
This morning I noticed one of my welsummers closing one eye a lot. I didn't see anything there, and she was able to open it but just kept closing it back up again.
I was...
I am a city girl so I had never had chickens before. In February, I took the plunge and ordered chicks. I ended up with 3 EEs, 2 welsummers, and 1 SLW. For the past few weeks I've been watching carefully for any sign of egg laying. One of my welsummers, Moana, seemed to mature the quickest...
Hello all!
I live in a city and I'm not allowed to have roosters. One of my chicks has of course started crowing at the ripe age of 12 weeks.
So here is Kirstoff, formerly known as Anna, 12 week old EE from chickensforbackyards.com (sourced from Cackle)
Here's why your hens need Kristoff...
Hello!
I wanted to make a thread showing the progression of one of my EE's feathers. Now part of the reason I wanted EEs (besides the eggs of course) was the fact that their colors and traits are a total toss up. I wanted a chicken lottery and I really got it!
First off, whoever packed my...
I'm a chicken noob and am wondering if anyone's trained eye can spot any roosters in my bunch. I ordered all pullets but there were two extra chicks mailed so good possiblity those are roosters. I'm currently finding excuses to think all of them are roosters so I might need some sense knocked...
Hey chicken people!
Yeah, this is yet another thread from a newbie who is probably overly concerned with moving my chicks outside.
So here's my scenario:
My chicks are 4 1/2 weeks old. Thus far they've been housed in my 55° basement with MHP, a non digital Sunbeam heating pad on medium heat...
Here they are! They hatched on Valentines day and I received them in the mail from chickensforbackyards.com on Friday morning. I live in an urban setting with a backyard coop so I ordered 5, thinking I would be alright with 3 or 4 if some didn't survive the February shipping. Well, they sent...
Hello! This is my first time ever getting chicks and was hoping to draw on some of your expertise to help sort out who is who. I ordered from chickens for backyards.
I ordered 3 Easter eggers,
1 silver laced Wyandotte,
1 welsummer.
I also got two extras so those are really throwing me off...
Hey!
I made this thread as a place for all us first timers to get together and share our experience!
I saw there was one for 2017 and it kept going all the way until those chicks were grown up and laying!
This year will be my first year raising chicks (Or chickens at all). I got my coop...
Hi everyone!
I am new to chickens and am in the process of building my first coop!
I decided to make my own rather than buying one because I specifically wanted one tall enough for a human to walk around inside the run. I live in an urban setting so I like the idea of being able to go in and...
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Totally new! Though my fiance has had chickens and other poultry as a kid.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
None yet. Still building the coop :)
(3) What breeds do you have?
Thinking of bantams- maybe Easter eggers? I...
