So I currently have a flock of 8 hens 2 years old. Dominique's, Rhode island red, and wyandottes.
Then out of boredom I purchased 6 straight run chicks today with no plan. How do I do this again? Lol. I probably can only keep up to 4 of the 6. I am assuming I will be getting some males and...
Last night they all got on their roost. Today I go down to collect eggs and a chicken layed there dead next to, but not in the nesting box.
No Intruders. She seemed fine yesterday. The rest of the birds seem fine today.

These predators are messing with the wrong chicken owner. Always one step ahead. I learned how to make and set snare traps the day after the 2nd Fox.

So my girls started making a weird screaming noise that I could hear from inside my house that I never heard before. I look out the window and witness a fox trying to find a way into the hen house circling the enclosure. Foxes are very smart and eventually it would find a way in. I sprint...
First time tonight 2 of my chickens have chosen to stay in the run and roost instead of going into the coup with the rest. Never has this happened before. It is a nice night out and they are safe.

..... I dumped all the shells and leftovers into a pile in the yard. My chickens are 10 weeks old if they pick at it they will be fine right? I'm going with the method I can dump anything food-wise out there and if they eat it they can and if they don't need it they can't.
10 chicks 9 weeks old and 9 out of 10 sleep where the heat plate used to be (3 weeks ago) and only one has been roosting for 1 week straight alone

How do hatcheries take care of the extra chicks? Like on Facebook I see Crakle Hatchery selling chicks at a discount of 50 cents. At this time of year they are definitely not selling all the chicks they hatch.
How do they take care of them, meaning which I believe, how do they put them down?
