Poof, the hen, has been broody for a little while now, and Lacey Boy, the rooster, stands by her side most of the day. He's still crowing in the mornings, but his appetite seems down. She's the only hen. Is he lonely? Wow, a chicken love story!
I just went out to check on the silkies and Poof is sitting on her 7 eggs! She made grouchy noises at me when I tried to look under her and turned the eggs with her beak right in front of me! Anything special I should do to care for her while she's on the nest?
Hi there, I'm new to the forum.
Our Silkie hen has just started laying her first eggs. As of last night she had four eggs! Her and the rooster are housed together so I'm hoping they're fertile. Anyone have any idea how many eggs she will lay before she decides to incubate them? I'm so excited!
