    Is my Brahma a ROO?

I purchased all pullets. I have two other Brahmas from the same hatch date (buff and dark). They have no combs yet and are feathered out. This one still has “bald” patches that haven’t come in, has a comb, and I think it looks red. Could it be a roo?

    Deleware? not sure now!

We had some rainbow pullets from Meyers. We looked at the chick identification and she was initially all yellow with just the mowhawk. Her feathers came in dark! Wondering if anyone has a guess one breed? We have several breeds we ordered and she doesn’t match any of them. No feathers on her feet.

    Hardware cloth on soffit

I planned to leave my roof soffit open for ventilation and secure it with hardware cloth. Now that we are all that point I don’t know the best way to do it. Any suggestions?

    Barred Rock?

I ordered 2 barred rock from the hatchery. Two have dark heads and look similar so I assume these are the BR. I also got rainbow pullets. Is the third a rooster because it has white on the head or some other breed?

    Bantam in a pullet mix?

I purchased 15 pullets from Meyer Hatchery this week. Half of them were rainbow pullets. One of those is really small. It is about half the size of the rest. Do they ever throw bantams in the surprise mix? Or is it common to have one that much smaller? Thanks :-)

We ordered 15 chicks from Meyers Hatchery that arrived today. All seems healthy! I ordered 4 Austra white, 2 barred rock, 2 RIR, and 7 rainbow pullets. We got 16 chicks. I have the ordered ones figured out and and 5 narrowed down (maybe LOL) but the last 3 I a could use some help with. I didn’t...

    New chicken Mama

We are a large foster family with 6 children currently at home. We have always wanted to have chickens but we’re not allowed where we lived. This winter we moved to a house in the country so we could give our kids experiences we felt they were missing. We are busy building our coop and planning...
