We have a lonely Welsummer that's about 6 weeks old and we just lost the last pullet closest to her in age.
Anyone near me have some young pullets to spare?

So my chickens aren't laying yet. I'm theorizing that, the house part of the coop is now too small, the two nesting boxes (part of the tiny house) are being slept in (we have 4 chickens) and pooped in!
Have had fake eggs in there for the longest time and now THEY are just getting pooped on...
How can you tell I have no idea what I'm doing?
A. We bought our chicks at Ace Hardware.
B. When asked what kind they are by friends, "uh, they're chickens?"

So, we took my cousins daughter and my DIL's niece (who lives with us) to Ace Hardware and bought chicks! They were in a borrowed brooder contraption in the house for about 3 weeks and we recently moved them outside to the coop we'd bought on Amazon. Soon realized they need a chicken run pronto...
So, if I am giving my chicks chick starter do I necessarily need grit? I'm gathering that when you start introducing other foods like treats that you should also introduce grit...yes?
