Wet under nipple waterers?? Help please!

About a week ago, my husband built a watering system for our chickens using the farmtek nipples. It's awesome, the chickens learned to use it right away, no more lugging water to the coop. Awesome. *Except* the litter under the inside nipples (which are attached to a PVC pipe) is always wet...

Should I cull this chick? CROOKED BEAK (pics)

Hi. I have a 6 week old Mille Fluer Bantam with a bad crooked beak. I took pictures of her this morning to show y'all. She literally eats all the time (I guess cause she can't get much at a time). She has been growing well - in fact, she's larger than my 2 other MF's. My husband thinks we...

BLR Wyandottes - too soon to guess gender?

Hi. These chicks are about 4 weeks old. Is it too soon to guess their gender? Is it true that you have to wait longer to tell with Wyandottes because of the type of comb? I got 6 straight run from McMurray and, of course, I'm anxious to find out if I got any pullets! Thanks for your help.

    \Is SHE a HE???

So I am currently raising 20 chicks. Have 4 EE's that are almost 6 weeks old. They were supposed to be all pullets (from the feed store) but I know how that goes. Anyway, I am suspicious that "Fancy Nancy" may actually be "Fancy Norman". Wondering what y'all think. With the girls: With...

One of my Mille Fleur bantams has a crooked beak and it seems to be getting worse. (wish I would have taken this pic from the front - it kind of looks like he just has it beak open, but he doesn't) What would you do?

Moving 4 week old chicks to chicken coop???

My Amerucana pullets are about 4 weeks old today. Getting too big for their brooder, and DH has just finished the chicken coop (whoo-hoo!). I would like to move them out there today. The temps here are in the 70's during the day and the low tonight is supposed to be 47. The coop is a nice...

    Chick with Crooked Beak

Have a two week old Mille Fleur bantam chick. Just noticed tonight that she/he has a crooked beak. Should I be worried about whether the chick is getting enough to eat?

New chicks & questions about BLR Wyandottes

Hello! Got my first chicks a few weeks ago. Started with 4 EE's (feed store said Amerucanas, but ?), I *think* they were about a week old when I got them, so that would make them almost 4 weeks old. Then I got my McMurray order two weeks ago. I have 3 Dominiques, 3 Columbia Wyandottes, 6...

Am I Making My Chicks "Flighty"?

Hello! So, I'm new to this forum, new the chickens! I've got 20 chicks - 4 EE's that are about 3 1/2 weeks old and 16 others (Columbian & BLR Wyandottes, Dominiques, and Mille Fleurs) that are about 1 1/2 weeks. Love these chicks!! I've always known I wanted chickens, but I didn't know they...

Can I mix Bantam and large breed Chickens???

This is my first post, though I've been lurking for a while Anyway, we've just gotten our first chicks. (Soooo excited!! They're even more fun than I imagined!) Anyway, I was wondering if you can raise Bantam and standard size chickens together? I haven't found this mentioned in any of my...
