I noticed this morning that one of my sweet duckies has what looks to be bumblefoot.
There seem to be varying bits of advice on how to treat this.
What is the best way (preferably without scalpels!) to treat this?
Also, do I need to wrap her foot and how do I do this?
@Miss Lydia - you've...
I have 4 Welsh Harlequin ducks. Three of them started laying a few weeks ago, I get 3 eggs per day. I'm assuming that one hasn't started laying yet and they're not just taking turns, one of them doesn't touch the oyster shell. Is there a point that I should be concerned that she hasn't started...
Not sure why they bellyflopped down the stairs, usually they jump/fly from the top step. Yes, they currently live in our walkout basement. We weren't sure if the roof of their run would hold the weight of the snow, so they're inside ducks for now (it didn't hold btw - so we're fixing that)
Sorry if these are answered elsewhere, feel free to point me to a post. I did a search and wasn't finding exactly what I needed.
1) I have a red-tailed hawk (and bald eagles, owls, foxes, raccoons, opossums, snakes, etc) that live nearby. The hawk is especially concerning at the moment. My...
I noticed today that my 10 week old WH ducks were loosing lots of small white feathers today. They were preening after a swim and pulled out about 25 or so white feathers. Normal or no?
Thanks!
Hi all!
I love my ducks, but they are super jumpy. They're Welsh Harlequin, don't know if that matters. I keep seeing cuddly duck photos on Instagram but my ducks HATE to be picked up and always run from me. They will eat out of my hand and sometimes sit nearby as long as I'm very still. I...
I'm still not 100% clear on when my WH ducks can stay outside full time. They're 7 weeks old now, they still have some fuzz. I was going to move them out once they're fuzz-free...but what if it's 20 degrees at night?
I've been taking them outside quite a bit to get used to cooler weather, but...
My 2 week old duckling ate a yellow jacket.
I had them outside (supervised) for about 15 minutes while cleaning their brooder.
Less than two minutes out there and she grabs a yellow jacket out of the air, shakes it around, and eats it.
She seems totally fine...is this ok? Is there anything I...
Hi everyone! I have 4 welsh harlequin ducklings and 3 of them are pretty outgoing, friendly, and are always eating and drinking. One of them seems terrified of me and chirps the entire time I'm in the room, she's smaller than the rest of them and I haven't seen her eat very much, but I'm not...
Hi everyone! I just received my 4 welsh harlequin ducklings yesterday from Metzer Farms...but to my surprise, they included a baby chick as well.
1) Can I keep the chick with the ducklings in the brooder?
2) I've read that I'm supposed to supplement the ducklings with niacin, will this hurt...
