    I just couldn't help myself . . .

Three days ago I told DH no more chickens to hatch as we had 12 in lockdown and 12 in the brooder bucket. He never got the chance to tell the guy who has been brining us the eggs. Yesterday afternoon, the guy who had been bringing us the RIR eggs to hatch, brought me 18 more eggs! I...

    Eye Issue!

I have a chick with an eye that is either sealed shut or missing! I think it's just not opened properly. The chick is only about 18 hours old, seems to be doing well otherwise but is still in a locked down bator as his brothers and sisters are hatching out. Should I worry and take him out now...

    Chick Pics

I posted these in another thread but I'm so proud, I had to do it again. . . This is our first hatch and we couldn't be happier. I have another dozen in lockdown and two chicks working their way out of the pip and zip stage.

    Peeps going nuts!

Oh my gosh my week old chicks are losing their minds! They keep flapping the wing feathers they have gotten and running around and pecking each other. I'm a little nervous about putting in the new hatchlings that are coming this week. Are they supposed to do this?

    Isolation???

I have baby chicks that hatched starting on Saturday right up to Monday morning. I moved all of the good hatchers into a brooder bucket complete with feeder and shallow water dish and a red warming light. All seemed fine until just now when I noticed that one of my chicks, who had a strange...

    Tumor on it's butt???

I just had a hatchling pop out of its shell and it looks like it has a tumor on its butt! Maybe it's just its belly button? I can't really tell, it just popped out but has the cutest little black eyes, like somebody hauled off and popped him in the beak. Suggestions?

    8 Hatchlings, incubator dry - 911 help!

Good morning. Hate to issue a 911 so early in the a.m. without too much going on yet, however, I woke this morning to find a total of eight hatchlings in the bator! While this is a cause for major as this is our first hatch, I noticed that I have eggs that are trying to hatch and the bator...

    911! First chick hatched but . . .

it's almost completely dry already. I don't know about my humidity as I don't have a way to tell me what it is. DH is convinced I need to get it out now because it's flopping all over the place and bumping up the rest of the party. There are 20 other eggs in that lockdown bator. Some were...

    Lockdown!

Well I locked down batch one and batch two last night. I see at least one egg is "rocking" back and forth like the chick is trying to get out. The rest are just hanging out and not moving. Should I be concerned about their viability? It would suck so badly that out of 21 eggs which candled...

    Newbie help!!!!

Morning everyone. I'm new to the forum and to hatching eggs. We adopted two dozen Rhode Island Red eggs two weeks ago and another dozen last Tuesday. They are all in one still air incubator. Candling yesterday showed that out of thirty six, we have a potential of 32 peeps. The first two...
