    Injured Duck

So I have a male call duck that has seen a significant issue with his leg/foot. Two days ago I saw a slight limp while he was walking but no distress. I immediately upped the yeast in their food. Yesterday morning I saw a significant limp and slowed/decreased walking. By afternoon he wasn't...

    Seasonal Layers?

I have two 8 month old Anconas that are still not laying. From my reading it says around 5 months for them to start laying normally. We are now into winter here in Upstate NY. I was wondering are Anconas seasonal layers? I thought they were going to be year round layers. And I know I need to...

    Another Gender Post

So I was given these two Call mallard ducks a month or so ago. I was told they were two males. The first picture you can see the green head of the duck while the other one has much more of a gray head. Also, it's tough to see but the duck with the green head has a white ring on its neck. It also...

I had a 6 week old chick escape their separate run and ended up with the adult chickens and ducks. When I noticed it she had been pretty beat up pretty good. I cleaned her up with water and baby soap, sprayed some special spray on it, and placed her in isolation in the garage to heal. She had...

    Breed Questions

So three months ago I purchased two Ancona female chicks and raised them along with my chicks and are no all living in with my chickens (separate house, same run). Last week I "rescued" (that's how I get things past my wife) two call drakes from a guy I work with as he didn't have enough space...

    Odd Broody Like Behavior

So I have just over year old Partridge Wyandotte. Since last fall when she started laying she has gone broody three times. The first two times we tried taking her eggs, then closing off her nesting box, then removing her from the coop and putting her in the run for the day and finally after a...

    Ancona Ducks Bills

So I have two Ancona ducks that are now about 8 weeks old and I noticed at around 4 weeks old that bill on one duck changed colors slightly. I was holding off waiting to see if the other's would change as well and it did not. Now one is pretty yellow and the other is a nude color. Is this normal?

    Chicken Pulling Feathers

I got home from work this morning and noticed one chicken had pulled all of its feathers out her vent to between her legs. I checked her and didn't see any fleas or anything. I gave her some calcium supplement and gave her a warm bath for about 10 minutes. She now is pulling her breast feathers...

    Help Identify Flock

If anybody could help me determining the chickens I have. I "rescued" these chickens and don't know what breeds they are. I was told they were purchased at a local Agway as chicks and that's all I know. For reference as the picture doesn't show it well, the brown chicken in the back is the...

    New Member Here!

Hey everyone. Been watching and reading for about a year now, learning a lot from everyone but figured I may as well join in on all the fun. I currently have six chickens that, I say, I rescued at 10 weeks old about year ago. I'll be adding 4 more chicks and to ducklings in the next couple weeks.
