    URGENT! Very sick bird!!!

My 10 week old Swedish Flower hen was looking a bit “droopy” 2 days ago, but later appeared normal.. maybe quieter than her norm. Last night, when putting everyone in the coop she was lethargic and laying down. She would drink but not eating and her crop felt soft. We brought her inside and gave...

My girls are 10-14 weeks old. I have been giving them Scratch & Peck Grower, but read a thread.. which I now can’t find.. that has made me want to switch to a crumble. I noticed they sometimes leave behind a specific grain and want to make sure they are getting everything they need. I hear lots...

It was 30 minutes before he told me what he had used and I took it away from them. I don’t remember what the concentration was! Will this hurt them?? What can I...

I’ve recently lost several of my flock. It’s young and I’ve had to rehome several Roos. I want to add 4 new pullets from 2 farms. Which means I’ll have TWO temporary set ups while slowly introducing the new pairs to my flock. (2 from one farm and 2 from another) 1. Am I crazy to try this...

    Blue Laced Red Wyandottes

I have two BLRW chicks, 5-6 weeks old. I’ve noticed they have two very different types of combs. One is slightly pinkish and flat, the other is peach/flesh colored and looks like a pea comb. Is this normal? If not what causes it?

    Wyandotte Chick Feathering

I’ve looked into sexing chicks by their saddle feathers and I’m curious if this is what they mean by “rooster feathers?” It also has a tiny little flesh colored bump on the back of each leg... spur?

    Odd Chick Behavior

I am currently treating my 3-4 week Wyandotte with LA 200 for a respiratory illness. I’ve also given it ACV in the water and probiotics/vitamins/minerals, but alternating with clean water as well. It is separated from the others. Chick had swelling above one eye, bubbling on the opposite side...

    Ventilation & Humidity

I have read lots in here about the need for good ventilation to keep down humidity. My question is what is a good percentage level for humidity in the coop? I have a thermometer/hygrometer I am putting in the coop to ensure my design has effective ventilation. I just need a number to shoot for!

What is better for the chickens feet and related health... round perches or flat? Large dowels, like a closet or curtain rod, or a 2x4?

    New Garden Project

We did math and science outside today! This is my first attempt at raised bed vegetable gardening. I lightly broke up the ground in the beds and lined the bottom with cardboard. I used plastic sheeting to line the wood to try and give it a little extra life. My dirt is a combo of top soil, cow...

    Howdy!

I’m excited to find a forum that will hopefully be a great resource. I’m currently doing my research and homework and prepping for my flock. I live in town and am allowed to have up to 6 hens. I already know that I want Orpingtons, Wyandotes and maybe Plymouth barred rocks. I have 3 kids who are...
