    Barred/cuckoo offspring

So we bought some "barred rock" chicks back in the spring but turns out only 2 roos are barred rock. We ended up with a few silver cuckoo marans and a couple gold cuckoo. We are really loving the marana! And now thinking about hatching some eggs soon. So my question is...what would the offspring be?

    Beans for the birds?

I know you aren't supposed to feed them dry, uncooked beans. But cooked are ok. But what about sprouted beans? Just like dried pintos from the grocery store? My kid was sprouting some so she could try and grow plants and it got me thinking...🤔

Chick attacked by roo, brain damage?

We have a 10wk old GSL chick that I found being pecked in the head by our roo. She was pretty bad but was still showing a lot of fight so we cleaned her up and separated from flock. She is now eating and drinking good, poo looks normal, but she is really uncoordinated and has trouble walking. Is...

    Black Australorp? Roo?

So this chick came out of a straight run of barred rocks. Obviously not. I've had pics of this one in another post about several of them but this one still has me stumped. Only one like it so nothing for comparison. Tell me what y'all think, please. Age now 6 weeks. (Last pic was a couple weeks ago)

    Snack or just food?

So right now our chickens have to stay in the coop(still working on the run). Every morning when I go out to feed and water I pick a couple handfuls of weeds out of my garden for them while I'm working. But since I have guineas too I've been trying to train them with mealworms at bedtime so when...

To mix or not to mix...

So we currently have barred rocks, buff orpingtons, Easter eggers, silver laced Wyandottes, and guineas. But now my husband is thinking maybe we should only keep 1 breed around. We plan on using them as dual purpose. We want the eggs but eventually they will all end up dinner. So not a problem...

    Wanna play a guessing game...?

Bought 12 chicks labeled as barred rock. Not real sure what they are now. Can anyone help with breed and genders. They are 4 weeks olds

Curled feet???! What can I do?

We just got our order of buff orpingtons 😁 but after I got them settled in a noticed one seemed to stay to itself so I pulled her out to check on her and noticed her feet are kinda curled. She "walks" on the side of them. But is slow and has a hard time of it with all the others running around...

Hi! Glad to be a part of the group!

My name is Michelle. We live in East Texas. My husband and I have 5 kids and have talked about raising chickens for years. We just never had the time with both working. But thanks to this virus...I'm now a stay at home mom with 4 kids to homeschool (plus a baby). But we are home now and this was...
