Hey everyone! So I got this lovely little lady today and I don’t have a clue what breed she is. She has feathers going down her legs and I LOVE her markings! I’m not sure her age but I’m guessing a week or two? Any thoughts on her breed? Thank you all!

    Sapphire Gem: Roo or Hen?

Hey all! So I know this is a sapphire gem but I’m not sure if it’s a Roo or hen. I was thinking hen but then I noticed the red comb and wattles...what are your guesses? Thank you for all your help! 😆 He/she is about two-three months old

    Chicken math got me again!!!

I shouldn’t have but I did...I walked by the chicken bins and I found Sapphire Gems. So of course I had to get them! I got six and the man was so nice he gave my son a chicken just for him to take care of. His kindness made my boy’s day and he is so excited.

    2 dead...what to do?!?!

This morning I thought my 18 week old glw was going to lay her first egg. She was hunched down and actually coming near me and letting me pet her and normally she looks at me and likes to run away. When I got back from my doctors appointment she was dead. I go to clean her up and my 8-10 week...

    16wk rooster but what breed???

This is my boy El Diablo...he is most definitely a butthead but I love him and I love his colors. He crows all the time and he lives up to his name by waking me up this morning at 4am at my back door and not stopping until 4:40am. I cannot figure out what breed he is. The store had him marked as...

Is it normal at this age?

So, I don’t know the breed, but is it normal for an almost 12wk old rooster to already be getting jiggy with some hens? I was spending some time with them and El Diablo just went up to our 4wk old Cornish cross hen and grabbed the neck feathers and went at it. I’m new to all this so I don’t know...

    3wk amberlink hen or Roo?

Hello everyone! I didn’t realize that chicken math existed until we continued to buy more and more chickens. That being said, this little guy/gal is our 3 week old amberlink. That is what the sign said the breed is, but I don’t have a clue. This is our first go around with chickens and we love...

    Different feathers mean different gender?

I know it’s super early to tell but I was curious. We have two sex link chicks and they are almost a week old. Phoenix is a little bigger than Inferno and the feathers are different. Does that matter that the feathers are different or could they both still be hens? The first photo is Phoenix and...

Help! Heat and seizure Cornish cross

One of my rooster Cornish cross just seizured and died in my arms. From noticing when he wasn’t moving much to getting him in his own box with food and water to when he died was less than five minutes. Could the heat have killed him? All my chickens have water, shade, and food. He was panting...

    Dog vs bunny burrow

Well, we found our dog chewing something and when we got him to spit it out, it was a baby bunny that he enjoyed partly. We found where he was digging and around it we found five more baby bunnies. Four have survived and we are taking them to a rehabilitation center in the morning. They are...

The Hen House: What are they thinking?!?!

Sooo I have a total of twenty chickens now and my first original ten are six weeks today. All of the twenty are outside enjoying the coop and run together. So far, everything is good, they all know their place and get along. Our coop is pretty big and my lovely original ten think they still need...

    Oreo or Johnny Cash?

I have another one ladies and gentlemen! This is my 6 wk barred rock. I have another one but the comb and wattle aren’t anywhere near this red color which makes me think this barred rock baby is Johnny Cash instead of Oreo. Your thoughts?

    6 wk cockerel???

I know I’ve posted before about this chicken but I swear it’s a cockerel. The attitude, the size and the color of the comb and wattle makes me think cockerel but I am new to being a chicken owner so what the heck do I know lol All my other chickens have pale combs and wattles. None of them are...

I couldn’t help it!!! They called to me!

Well I broke down and bought six more chickens...now a grand total of twenty. I couldn’t help it! They just begged to go home with me and who am I to deny them the comforts of my awesome coop??? I don’t have a single clue what I’m going to do with all the eggs they give me but I am egg-cited...

    Are all three cockerels?

I have 5wk old chickens and I think these three are cockerels. Am I right? Am I wrong? They seem to like each other at least. Sorry for the little fluff butt in there lol there is a barred rock, golden laced Wyandotte and I’m not for sure the breed of the white one.

    Is it normal behavior?

Our chickens moved to the coop a few days ago. Every morning I let them into the run and every night I close them in their coop safe and sound. I have noticed that instead of spreading out in the coop at night, they all huddle together at the front by the door. Is this normal behavior at first...

Is it ok if they stay in the run?

I am a first timer here so please go easy on me! We finally finished our coop and run. The chickens all love it outside in the run but won’t go into the coop. I tried putting them in the coop first and they all just ran out. I’ve even moved their food and water to inside but they won’t go in and...
