    King Arthur Yuletide Spice Blend

Has anyone used this before? I received it as part of of the spice and cookie set and I have no idea what flavors it would pair well with. I was thinking maybe chocolate? Maybe? Here’s the label

    Got our first blue egg!

One of our cream legbars laid her first blue egg today! It’s our first blue egg ever! I believe it’s a fairy egg, but it’s still cool!

Have you ever had a chicken you thought you wouldn’t like but it turned out to be your favorite?

Or had the opposite? Had a bird you thought you’d love but you ended being more meh about them? I’ve had both. I thought leghorns were sort of boring little birds with goofy combs and wattles. Now that I have one, she’s my favorite and her little comb is adorable! My cream legbars seem to have...

Why are my pullet’s wings like this?

I wasn’t sure where to post this, so sorry if this is the wrong thread, but I was wondering why my pullet’s wing feathers seem to stick out when tucked at her side. I’ve never seen it in another bird, but I haven’t seen many birds in person, so maybe it’s something common that I’m just not aware...

Trying to figure out my flock’s pecking order

My RSL will peck all of the other chickens except the buff one. Does this mean the buff is at the top of the pecking order with RSL being second in command? Or is it the other way around?

How do you name your chickens?

My pullets are 8 weeks old and I still haven’t named them. 😅 At first it was because I couldn’t tell them apart. As they get older and I get a better eye for chickens I now can, but I’m still at a loss. Nothing feels right and I don’t know where to begin. I know I’m putting too much thought into...

    Comb/wattle genes?

Dumb question, are the genes that control the comb the same that control the wattles?

Is there such a thing as too much protein?

Pretty much title question. Can chickens consume too much protein and what would the negative affects be? I know in humans that excess is excreted through urine I believe, but chickens are different animals, so I don’t know if their systems process it differently I’m in a suburban setting, so...

How to tell same breed individuals apart?

I have two red sex links, two whites, and two cream leg bars and I can’t tell them apart easily. I’m trying to look at feather patterns on the RSL and the leg bars but they’re very similar to each other. The whites I can only tell apart because one has a scraggly tail feather. When that goes...

    What breeds are these pullets?

I have two whites that are the same breed and I’m pretty sure they’re not Leghorns, but I’m not positive. They’re my flightiest birds, even more so than my three week olds. They’re about five weeks old I have one golden/pale red that I have no clue about. She was in a mystery bin and we...
