Trying to figure out if this is a pullet or cockerel. The comb was coming in strong and I thought boy, but the feathers aren’t screaming roo to me. What do you think?
Hi!
My chickens have been loving flock blocks as a treat. Our local Tractor Supplies don’t have any though. They’re loaded up on deer hunting stuff instead. Can I give my chickens one of the deer feeding blocks that looks like a flock block? TIA!
Hello!
In April I got a group of Royal Palm poults to raise up. As is the way of things I wound up with 6 toms and 1 jenny. I would like to keep as many of the turkeys as I can, but I’m also not looking to get any more. I found raising them indoors to be a miserable experience.
I have read that...
Hello,
Longish post ahead:
I have never incubated eggs before. We got a Nuture Right 360 at Christmas time, but then when spring rolled around I got some turkeys and decided not to incubate chicken eggs.
In the meantime, one of my hens went broody. We decided that if we weren’t going to have to...
Got this one from TSC. 4 weeks old. Supposed to be an amber link pullet. I assume the “link” means sexable. I’m getting cockerel vibes though.... Unless the production breeds just mature faster? Until now I haven’t had any “production” chickens.
Thoughts?
I just wanted to share pics of my first flock. I hope this is the right place!

The chicken math is kicking in, and I likely have roosters I’m not going to be able to keep, so we got 3 more littles to grow out:
I have 2. I am confident one is a cockerel . He’s got feather pants, and my daughters heard him crow a couple days ago. He is also taking forever to feather up. 8 weeks old and he’s still raggedy looking. The other.... I’m not sure. I would love for it to be a pullet. Feather came in faster, and...
I had my 7 week olds in their run today while I was in it working on putting up the aviary netting. They are not outside full time yet. They take field trips.
Anyway, it’s 91 degrees today, but feels like 99 because of the humidity. Field trip got cut short because they don’t seem to know how...
Hey! We’re just about finished with our coop, and have started the run and are ready to put up hardware cloth (and a door).
I have a question that I’ve spent way too much time thinking about: Do you attach the cloth in the inside or the outside of the wood supports?
I feel like there might be...
Is this little sweetie a rooster? 6 weeks old. Just a little pink at the base of the comb. Those pointy tail feathers though.....
Thanks for any help! 😊
Hello! My family is just starting out with backyard chickens. We’ve had 6 chicks for the past 3 weeks and I’m curious about these 3.
I have 2 lavender Orpingtons and one porcelain d’uccle.
Let me know what you think about gender!
I’ll start with the d’uccle, Peep. Peep is a sweet sweet baby...
