I'm hatching for a friend who wants some chickens and I might keep one or two. 😅 I'm using a broody hen and an incubator. I started the hen July 2nd with 9 eggs. She broke 3 of them and kicked two away from her. Now she only has 4.
This is my 1st time and I wanted to share it with you. Any...
I hacthed these 8 chicks myself and they are 5 weeks. Some are Easter eggers, one is a pure breed Polish one is half Huden and half polish and two other are half unknown breeds half Easter eggers. Can you help me know if they are cockerls or pullets please?
Picture one. Chick 1 half unknown...
I'm wanting to buy an incubator that holds 12 to 24 eggs with a good hatch rate. I want auto turning and one that you do not need to open to add water. I need it to be under 100. Any suggestions?
I set my eggs into lock down last night. I have 9 eggs. They all have large air cells so I raised the humitiy last night as well. This morning the temp in the incubator was 94. It doesn't have good installation. I dont know how long it was that cold. All eggs were doing well when I candled and...
I just got this from my nieghbor. The fan is dirty and I can't remove the screws. The heads are worn and most of them are tight. Can I rinse it out and blow dry it? Will I ruin the electrical parts?
My nieghbor is incubating some of my chickens eggs. Yesterday was lock down day, but she was busy and we couldn't candel the eggs. She raised the humitiy, but did not turn off the turner until I went over there this morning. I was going to remove the turning tray yesterday and place the eggs in...
My friend is trying to hatch some of my chickens eggs. Yesterday I candled them, on day 10 and the air cells were like they should be for day 6 or 7. Should we drop it to between 15 to 20 for the next 7 days?
It's the egg under the blue sticker. She pipped yesterday on day 19 in the morning and also started zipping. She finished zipping over 6 hours ago. Shes been like this. My other two eggs that were set the same day pipped last night on day 19 and zipped this morning and were out within an hour...
I want to save some of these light blue eggs for possible incubation, but she lays most of them with this white stuff on them. It's not poop, is it ok for incubation?
My niece wants to try and hacth some. She lives about an hour away from us and its cold out right now. How should I care for the eggs until I can get them to her?
It's a peridot stud earing. It's small. She jumped on my back climbed up and pecked my earing out. It fell on the bedding and I could not find it!
I'm concerned one of them might find it and swallow it and die! What do you think?
Has anything like this happened to you?
What did you do?
My chicks are finally 6 weeks. I love them, but I am tierd of them being inside.
The outsidr coop should be ready by next Tuesday. I am a little concern they'll have trouble with the heat next week it is supposed to get to 109. As long as they have cool water and plently of shade, do you think...
I have an older hen and 10 6 week olds. One of them will be a rooster and they will have some chicks. Can I give them all flock pellets mixed with chick starter and then offer calcium and grit together in a separate bowl?
I had 10 chickens before that my husband got from a feed store about 4 years ago. He mostly cared for them and built their coop. They have all died but one...for varied reasons...mostly predators killed them.
Anyhow, the old coop is filled with poop! Years old dry dust poop and fresh poop...
My friend got me some chicks 16, as a gift. They were sent to me and 6 have died. The other 10 are 4 weeks now. I believe I have at least one Easter Egger rooster. I think the rest are hens. They are supposed to be. This picture is my one Houdan Chicken..I hope is a hen.
Anyway, Im glad to be...
