So my Easter Eggers are now 5 weeks old!! They are allowed to forage in their run all day and they return to the brooder/coop for the night. They no longer use the heat lamp although if it is going to be very cold at night I will turn it on. I still do not know which are boys or girls but they...
My little baby is still so much smaller than the rest but she is able to walk and defend herself now so I have her with the rest. Even her feathers are less developed. What could have caused this to happen?
So the more I watch my tiny chicken I am noticing that she won't stand or walk the others are all over the place walking on the top of the feeders running and standing but this tiny one can only stand for a few seconds before her little legs give out on her. I am including a picture of one of...
I have 1 ISA Brown that came with the 10 I ordered she hatched on Sept 30. She is extremely smaller than the rest of the babies. She sleeps more than anything and I literally have to put her in the palm of my hand so she can drink and eat without being pushed off to the side by the others. Is...
So my babies are now safe and sound nice and warm. I must say these look so much smaller than my EE did when they arrived. I am feeling so lucky to have such a great flock of birds
So up until this point I had my baby EE on my front porch in a brooder. They have since grown so much they were able to get up to the ledge of the fold down side that helps me be able to reach into the box. So I figured it was time to make a bigger brooder. I have built 3 brooders according to...
My baby Easter Eggers are now 3 weeks old. They are so active and fun to watch I can literally stare at them for hours. They have their little pecking order going although about 3 of them are constantly going chest to chest over who is the alpha chick lol is that even a thing. I am really happy...
I was asked how old my girls were and it dawned on me that I have no clue as to the age or breed of my girls so maybe someone can help me. Some are laying but I don't think they all are but when I got them the lady said they were all laying.
So I have a flock of 17 hens and they were able to free range where I got them from but here at my house we have a lot of Hawks that just sit and wait for the chance to get a hen. So my question is how do I get my hens to sleep on the roost instead of the ground one hen sleeps in one of the...
This little babies are so dang cute I want to hold them but I don't know if it is good to handle them. Also I have 2 dogs that are very curious they do not bother my older flock but I would like to get them aquatinted with this flock would it be wise to allow my dogs to sniff them or would that...
