So I wanted to share this photo as a word of warning to everyone who has a lot of backyard space with possibly things that could injure chickens. I had NO idea that chickens would eat tiny scraps of hardware cloth, and I thought i was pretty diligent about picking them up.

14 weeks and I think I’m shifting more towards team cockerel :hmm and that tail really has me questioning this one even more. From the beginning it was the curved tail feathers and the independent attitude that had me wondering.
12 weeks this Wednesday, and one of the babies has very long ends to her tail feathers. She is also really strong. But then again they both look a lot alike and I know all develop differently. So which do you think, hen or roo? My dad swears it’s a hen but I still can’t shake this weird feeling...

should I hope for both of these to be pullets? It might be worth nothing that the one with the larger comb also has a slight cross beak.
