Hey guys!
I got these four from a mystery bin at two different Tractor Supply Companies. They were too little before to guess, but I'm hoping that their breed and be identified.
Any guesses or thoughts?
I hope these two are the same breed since it looks possible I got a male and a female...
Well, I've hatched a whole slew of Roosters. While I hoped they'd all be pullets, I knew it was an astronomical chance.
I am going to cull my first chickens this summer, so I just wanted to introduce myself and start reading the posts.
Would you guys help me determine whose male and female? I gave the "descriptive" names to help to identify them.
Can you believe these guys were two days old when I submitted pictures for the "Cutest Chick" Contest, we just had!
Thank you in advance for your help!!!
(These would be Easter...
I have my first broody hatch. My hen seems a little confused. She abandoned her two unhatched eggs and went on sat on new eggs--bringing her chicks with her. I found this situation after I got home from work last night, weather has been in the 40's. The two abandoned eggs were cold (near...
Hi, thanks for helping. I’ve lost two hens over the last seven months. The latest hen disappeared around 6:30 p.m.
I found her feathers in two places in my yard. I also saw a huge dark brown feather. Since then, I’ve found two more dark brown feathers. Then this morning, I found this feather...
Millie is hatching her first clutch. When I checked under her, I found the first chick and saw two pipped eggs. Did I hurt the pipped eggs under her? I know in an incubator, I would be concerned about shrink-wrapping the chicks.
If there's a concern, I do have her eggs numbered, and I can start...
Last year, I started my chicken journey. I purchased four chicks from TSC. I had room for four more, but more than anything else, I wanted easter eggers.
So on Craigslist, I found an advert for colorful egg layers. I wrote. They promised four chicks and would do their best to only have...
On Thursday, I was out in my backyard doing some tidying up. I was going in and out of my house for small errands. My flock was right alongside me, curious about everything I was doing.
At 6:30 p.m. I snapped a picture of my hens who had snuck into my mudroom and were looking at chicks in the...
These chicks are days shy of being six weeks old. They are a barnyard mix. What gender do you think they are? Also, any guesses as to what breeds might be present?
#1 - (Pullet I'm hoping . . . . )
Chicken 2 (Also pullet?)
Chicken 3 (Cockrel? He's had a red comb and wattles since week...
It’s not easy getting a photo, but would guys assist with this (brown) egg? It should be able to breathe bc I’ve seen it’s beak. It might be 12 or 24 hours, my new hatched chicks have been playing soccer with the unhitched eggs.
It’s Day 21 and I have one unzipping (and perhaps unknown pips.)...
Today is day 18 - lockdown day. I've had it marked on my day-planner since I put the eggs in the incubator.
I was saving lock-down until dark, so I could candle my eggs, draw out the air sac. I planned on putting slip-resistant drawer lining in the bottom of the incubator and lining up the eggs...
What is happening to me?
LOL - I had no idea how far down this chicken path I would go. Today, I went to Harbor Freight's Black Friday Spring sale and purchased a miter saw and table saw, so I could start building my own coops. I live within a mile of four Amish lumber mills, so that will...
This is Soap, a female Peking. I’ve had her in isolation because I suspect she has bumble-foot. Right now she’s soaking in the tub with Epsom salts. I’ve been spraying a poultry Teatree oil spray every day and wrapping her foot. I’m trying to figure out what I’m trying to remove from her foot...
I'm posting here more for moral support than anything else. My favorite egg layer is egg bound.
Yesterday I noticed she was hiding from the chickens. She's my most cuddle-resistant hen, but she stayed in my arms to be held, so I knew. So far, I've bathed her in a warm bath with Epson. Given...
I'm new to chickens, so forgive me if this is common, but this morning I had a laugh. Apparently, I had two broody hens. One hen was sitting on the only clutch of eggs, and the second hen was sitting on top of the first hen, also wanting to hatch them.
I saw there were other posts about ducks flying away. I was so thankful for what was poted, that I thought I'd add my story to this collection.
I have six ducks (four Mallards and two Pekins). They are six months old. They are very shy about leaving their poultry cage, as I have a fox in the...
