Hi folks,
So this chicken is almost 14 weeks old and was supposed to be a Red Sex Link pullet but looks to me like possibly a New Hampshire Red? Can we confirm she is a she and breed? She is huge compared to most of my other girls who are a year+, same size as my RIR who is a year old.
Thanks!
I have six girls. Two stopped laying in fall during their molt (2 yrs old) and four that were hatched last July. My four young girls were laying really well up until the blizzard we had in January. I had the coop wrapped in tarps and they were confined for a few days, but since then...
I have two 2 year old black sex links who are both freeloaders right now due to molting and four 18 week old pullets. Three of the pullets have gotten super loud, my two Australorps and my RIR. The australorps are also squatting for me. I attached a picture of one Australorp and my RIR...are...
I have four pullets that are coming up on 16 weeks old, two australorps, one barred rock and a RIR. In the last week my RIR has really gotten her comb and wattles and they are red. I can tell they aren't fully "in" since they are still smaller than our 2 year old black sex links, but the...
We have four 9 week old pullets and two 2 year old hens. They had been in separate locations and a week ago we put them where they could see each other through the wires, but not touch. We then slowly began integrating them with the hens going into the run with the pullets. One hen was...
I have two laying hens who are currently on layer feed and four 8 week old chicks on medicated starter/grower. They will be moved in together this week so I need to know if all can eat the medicated started/grower since I have a HUGE bag left if I offer oyster shell for the laying hens and if...
We have two rehomed hens that we got about 2 1/2 weeks ago. One began laying last week for us and was giving us an egg every day or so (we saw her in the box each time) The eggs were all the same shade of brown, but yesterday's egg was very light in color. We didn't see either of them in the...
Any idea what breed this chick is? She was put in as the "meal maker" with our order of barred rock and australorp. Thought she was a red sex link but now thinking maybe a Rhode Island Red? They are just over five weeks old.
I have two hens we got about 2 1/2 weeks ago, they are Black Sexlinks. They were both laying well at their prior home and one started laying last week for us. The other hen has not started laying and doesn't even go into the nesting boxes. I do see her watching the other hen lay, and we have...
I have two 2 year old hens and four 5 week old chicks. I will be moving them all together when the chicks are arond 10-11 weeks old and need to figure out what to feed everyone. For now the hens are eating layer feed with oyster shell available and the chicks are on a starter/grower feed...
I have 2 two year old hens we have had a few weeks and we have 4 five week old pullets. We will be moving the pullets to the big coop in a few weeks and then placing the hens in their small coop and run inside the big run so they can get to know one another before they can reach each other...
We got two laying hens from the same farm two weeks ago and have them together in a coop and run. They have settled in well and the dominant hen finally resumed laying yesterday, giving us an egg yesterday and today. The other hen will sit in the box but has not yet laid. Will she start soon...
We got two black sex links a little over a week ago and were told they were actively laying. Since we have had them there have been no eggs :( Chickens seem happy, they are eating and drinking well, using the nest boxes, getting treats and enjoying dust baths. Could they just be stressed...
Sorry for the not so great pics! I have four chickens that were hatched April 21st, we already know the two RIR are roos :( I have the blue/gray EE and the white EE and we are unsure if either is a pullet. One source told us the blue/gray is a pullet and the white a roo, but looking for more...
We are in Stafford Virginia and ready to get chicks this spring. We are looking for a small flock of 3-5 hens, for pets and eggs, but i cannot get an answer from zoning as to whether this is legal. I am not sure if who I am talking to is just uninformed, but the info she showed me gives very...
