Hello! A few weeks back I received some great information about this chick's breed (Mottled Houdan) and possible gender. At almost 11 weeks old, the bird's comb is starting to redden, so wanted to check back to see if that means I've got a young roo on my hands, or if this bird is still looking...
Raising chicks comes with a gamble that you may have some cockerels in the bunch.
Here are two lovely boys that I need to rehome due to them being...boys.
I live in the city and as much as I have bonded with them I'm frankly unable to keep them.
They are 9 weeks old & have been raised by me...
My EE babies (sold to me as 4 pullets) have given me quite a lot to consider seeing as one is clearly a roo. In addition, some people have thought one of my other EEs is a cockerel as well!
Have a guess at these two. :frow

Hello, quick question on my 8 week old EE pullet. I noticed her beak seams to have sustained some type of injury or trauma as it is cracked as of this morning. Her beak has previously appeared healthy, straight, and appropriately sized. I included a before with her intact beak, and a photo from...
This little boy/girl initially didn’t have me concerned but is now starting to make random adult chicken noises at 7 weeks old. He/she is always keeping her sisters in line and seems to be the first one on the scene every time. In the bottom photo the bird in question is in the middle.
This baby was sold to me as an Amerucauna, but through forms on this site he/she is probably going to end up being an Easter Egger. Are there other surprises in store? Would you guys say this looks pullet or cockerel to you? This baby is 3 weeks old.
Hello all!
I just picked up some Ameraucana babies to add to my flock (blue eggs, yay!). I was wondering if anyone has experience or a guide on what colors these baby chicks might grow to be? Here’s some photos of them.
Also picked up a Blue Copper Maran, threw her photo in too at the bottom...
Hello all. I have 2 Rhode Island Red girls in my flock, and in the last 2 weeks a portion of both their earlobes has turned a pale off white color. There is no raised area, or unusual texture where the color change has occurred. No visual signs of an infestation (to my untrained eye). My other...
Hey all, I’m a new chicken mom. I bought a new house and it came with 5 lovely hens. I’ve ID’d each hen breed but am not sure if my black hen is a Black Australorp or an Ayam Cemani. I thought Australorp at first, but her tiny dark comb is throwing me. She is a small girl, not sure of her age...
