I am trying to figure out how to attach an automatic door to my coop, but everything I find shows the door outside the coop. My coop has the door inside and you pull it open on the back of the coop by pulling the string down. There is no room on the front of the coop to install anything because...
This guy / girl has kept me guessing from the beginning! Comb and waddle showed up a little earlier and have been a little redder then the other chicks. In the last week she / he started looking like this!! I would think rooster, but this is our smallest chick and I don’t see saddle feathers...
I did a lot of work in the chicken coop this morning and was handling my chickens. Came inside and felt like my skin was crawling. I keep finding these very tiny bugs. They don’t appear to be jumping or flying. Any idea what they are or what I do about them? Chickens seem fine, but I doubt I...
Pullet or Roo?
Chickens 1 and 2 (black and white images) were strongly suspected of being boys and were re-homed 2 weeks ago. The remaining chickens are 8 weeks old and are “barnyard mix”.
Pullets or Cockerels?
Chickens 1 & 2 were strongly suspected of being boys and have been rehomed. We miss them but the flock is a lot calmer. Not too keen on photo shoots though. Mostly they just pecked at my phone and I got a lot of extreme closeups!
Pullet or Cockerel? I am pretty sure the first 2 are boys, and probably the last one too. Not sure about the others.
Breed? They are barnyard mix, I think we have some Brahma, Jersey Giant, RI Red, Mystic Onyx, Ameraucana, and Croad Langshan. All hatched from light brown eggs.
These are my 5 week old “barnyard mix” chicks. I’m thinking these three are cockerels based on red combs and wattles. Any chance they turn out to be pullets with wattles already?
These guys are a "barnyard mix" and are 3 1/2 weeks old. I suspect chicken #1 is a light brahma (and a rooster). Chicken #2 might have some Jersey Giant and has a reddish comb so I'm thinking rooster.
So any guesses? Breed / sex?
Sorry for the red light ones, forgot to turn off the brooder...
