My babies are about 5-6 weeks old. From the same farm but hatched within days of each other. I think I know genders of 3 of them, but I’m unsure of 2 of them.
I think 1 & 2 are girls. Small legs.
I am pretty certain 5 is a boy. Thick legs big feet. And he’s just overall bigger than all of...
Is it typical for hatchery quality BCM’s to look like different birds? Lol why do they look so different? One has feathered feet, one not so much…. Their faces look different… also, are these both pullets?
So I have had 3 light brahmas previously, one being a girl, 2 were boys. I now have this buff Brahma sold as a pullet, but now at 6 weeks old, I’m thinking I have a cockerel. He/she is developing just as my other LB boys have.
Also, I got 2 BCM pullets that I am questioning. One has a bigger...
So I’ve had my flock on DuMOR All Flock because I have a roo. Well, he will be gone tomorrow, and I am switching the girls to a layer feed. DuMOR has layer pellets as well as egg maxx pellet feed. Is there a difference? Does anyone prefer one over the other? Opinions? The only thing I can see is...
So they got me yet again.. TSC had a bin labeled with Blue Plymouth Rocks and also Sapphire Gems. I see a lot of questions to whether or not they’re the same… From what I understand, a Sapphire Gem is the result of a BluePR + a BarredPR. But some people say they’re the same just called different...
So these little ones are about 5-6 weeks and their combs are worrying me lol! They’re supposed to be pullets .. I have an older Jersey Giant pullet (about 16 weeks) looked more like (1.)
The one that’s a little bigger (2.) has a little bigger comb but it’s crooked so idk if it just looks bigger...
Sold by TSC as Amercauna pullets. I know the chicken world says they’re really EE’s and I know they take a while to determine gender but are these 3 EE chicks looking like pullets ? 🤞🏻🤞🏻 They’re 8 weeks old.
She was gifted to me from a friend and said nothing more than she is a “lemon cuckoo”
Thoughts on her breed? Should I settle for barnyard mix? Lol
Without knowing a breed, her age is only a rough estimate of 13/14 weeks or so.
I literally go back and forth with this one because all 3 of my LB chicks have developed differently, they all look different. One I know is a pullet, one I know is a cockerel but the other is more Roo than my girl but also appears to maybe be a faster-developing pullet. Comb and wattles say...
Hi. Me again..
I think I’m getting better at this. And I hear/read that barred rocks are one of the easiest to sex at a young age. (If you’re too late to check the dot on their head at hatching)
At this age:
Boys = lighter more defined lines
Girls = darker, more spotty looking as opposed to...
I separated my 9 week old Jersey Giant girl from the flock when she exhibited worrying symptoms. She seems to be very sleepy, could barely keep her eyes open. Looking at her eyes they looked “sleepy” as in the third eyelid is visible but it doesn’t look swollen… also her eyes are watery and she...
Pet quality AC chicks. Thoughts on gender? I know it’s early, they’re about 4 weeks. I chose the ones with the smallest combs lol 🙄 really hoping for at least one female.
So I have mixed ages and both males and females in my flock. I’m wondering when and how to go about feeding as I know requirements change.
I have a 12 week old Buff Orpington, a 10 week old Sapphire Splash, and about an 8 week old lemon Cuckoo. All pullets.
But I also have nine 6-8 week olds...
