    Mean mama

Will my mean mom be ok if I keep her away from her babies? Here’s the story. I have two Hens with 2 chicks each. 1 hen is a silkie with 2 chicks from a friends hen. The other is a Serama with an adopted chick and one of her own. The Silkie has decided that she needs to peck the Serama. Ok if it...

    Meet Lucky Roo

This is Lucky Roo. He was hatched 3/28/22. He’s never tried to crow. (Which is awesome since my city doesn’t allow roosters 😜). I was wondering if anyone could tell me what breed(s) he looks like. He’s a big boy. Legs are sort of grayish green. He’s got a single comb and has a very pleasant...

Sexy Easter Egger in search of a flock in need of some TLC

Hi. I’m a 3.5 month old Easter Egger, with a little extra. I like long forages on the range, leading my ladies to tasty snacks and scaring off nasty ole predators. I’m not much into cuddles but if you’re looking for a strong male figure, who will still come running for treats like a toddler, I’m...

    Ameraucana Or egger?

So she hatched from a bluish green egg. Has white legs. Big “girl”. I swear she tried to crow this morning. Hatched March 28, 2022. Three months old.

    Broody

I have a broody lady. No rooster so she’s wasting her time. I also have three other hens. If I got some fertilized eggs and let her have at it, will the other hens be accepting of the chicks? Or will I have to separate them?

    Feather follicle or something else?

Miss Lucille is a bantam Cochin frizzle. She is almost a year old and has been very steady laying eggs. They’ve been clean until today. She laid a bloody one (sorry washed it before thinking of a pic). Wasn’t smears, was wet “liquid” blood. With a blob of soft poop. She’s been laying clean eggs...

    Impacted crop?

This is Frankie. Frankie has a relatively hard ball, little bigger than large marble, stuck in her crop. Her poop is green and runny (runny prob because I’ve got her on a liquid diet). She wants to eat and is active but the lump hasn’t cleared out in two days. I could feel pellets stuck in there...

    Coping with bullying

I have a small flock. 4 hens and two roosters. Luck of the draw I guess. Everyone got along great, even the Roos. One of my Roos (good looking Polish) fell sick, no idea what he had, but we brought him in and nursed him back to health. He was inside for 5 days and I am now bringing him out to...

    Polish lady not laying

My Polish, Phyllis, had been laying about every other to every two days. Got about a dozen eggs, she’s coming up on 7 months. She hasn’t laid an egg in almost two weeks. I do let them free range in the yard but I’m out there with her, so I don’t think she’s hiding them. She is acting normal and...

Hoping they’re old enough to ID now.

My babies are now 6 weeks old. Google images says these are white Leghorns. I was told they were Wyandotte’s when they came home. 😆 I can see the resemblance to the Leghorn pics. Google also said my Prince (the lavender grayish one) is a white Leghorn. What do y’all think? They all were supposed...

    Frizzle what?

So I know that little Frankie is a frizzle. I just don’t know what else. She is really small and coming up on 2 months old. Any idea?

    Pullet/cockerel

My better half added to my little flock with 3 chicks that are supposedly purple Wyandotte’s. I didn’t see that variety list in that breed. They were all supposedly female as well, but I’m beginning to wonder. The first photos are of the Wyandotte’s (?) and the second ones are of my Polish...

    Proud mama

My Phyllis laid her first egg. I’m so proud. Phyllis’ egg is on the right. The other one is my little miss Frizzle’s, Lucille. Phyllis is the Polish and Lucille’s the little red missy

    Bad poop??

My White Crested Polish lady, Phyllis (5.5 months old), deposited this. She does free range in the yard part time. Not showing any signs of illness. Is something wrong??

    Polish. Rooster or hen?

I’ve been told rooster by several folks and hen by others. Phil/Phyllis is a 6 months old Polish. No eggs yet. Phil also gets froggy and will kick at me sometimes. I’ve read you can tell by their hair do but I’m just not sure.

    Hi. New chicken mom.

I started about 7 months ago. I live in Shreveport La and am not allowed to have roosters inside the city limits. :( But I have 7 beautiful hens ( I hope lol). Here’s 3 of them. The other 4 are only 2 weeks old.
