Don’t you just hate/love these waterers?
They keep the water clean and last more than a day or so BUT the filling is such a PAIN
I was tired of having to jam the top into the ground or trying to hold it between my feet to lock/unlock the bottom so I made this little board arrangement- put an...
Hello
I’ve had this girl for about 2 years. I will no longer buy “straight run” chicks because I clearly fail at chicken roulette 😜
Of 6 chickens, she was the only hen
Anyway, she came from a friend of a friend’s brooder and he had all sorts so I don’t really know what mix she could be. She...
I'm trying to post a video to support a health question about one of my girls, but evidently phone videos can't be uploaded. I don't have a youtube account to load it on (as many suggestions have stated) so I'm at a loss as to how to get my video to my post.
Any ideas?
I have 5 active layers but one Ameracauna always lays a paper thin shelled egg. It also has calcium bumps on it sometimes. I’m feeding everyone oyster shell mix and the rest have perfectly normal shells. What can be done for her?
I have a few good layers (firm shelled white, brown and green eggs).
But I also have a blue egg layer whose egg shells are very thin or have the calcium bumps on them. I not so worried about her but I have someone else (not sure which one) that is laying a soft, leathery shell. Usually the...
I have 2 Ameruacanas who I thought were both laying blue eggs when I got them. They stopped laying for a few months and now that they’ve started again, I’m getting a blue and a light olive colored egg. What gives? Normal?
General chicken knowledge question-
I possibly have a sick girl and am reading on how to diagnose the symptoms. An issue I’m finding though, is a lot of diagnosing requires feeling certain parts of the chicken for “normalcy.” Hard to do when you don’t really know what you are feeling and if...
Probably a duuuuummmm question, but is there any way to tell which hen is laying which egg? I only have 4 layers (with only 2 currently laying). Two should be laying blue eggs, one, pink/beige eggs and the new girl is supposed to be laying brown eggs, but hasn't yet. The only stupid idea I...
I just got a new girl and was told she is about 8 months old and laying. No eggs yet but I know chickens can get stressed.
How long have y’all seen them go before they start laying again?
Soooo I suck at chicken roulette. A hen I bought a few months ago may be yet another roo🙄 Of the last 5 chickens I have gotten, 4 have turned out to be stinkin roosters! And this one may be also- what does everyone think?
(Doesn’t crow or mount hens)
So one of my new layers (Ameraucana) is laying a pretty blue egg.....but it's pear shaped and rough shelled. The shell is pretty thin as well. The insides, however are great! (no blood or spots) Something she's missing in her diet? Not mature enough yet? etc?

Is poop that looks like caramel sauce normal? 6 chickens, well ventilated run, standard layer feed. Anybody have issues with certain "non chicken food" treats?
Hi - Something strange happening in my coop:eek:I have 6 hens (2 laying) and 1 little Bantam roo (he's soooo cute!). What I've seen twice now is that when he mounts a hen, my other (biggest) hen will jump on top of both of them and try to do "rooster stuff" too. Very bizarre! "She" is not...
