I have a hen I want to give Tylosin to via syringe because she will not drink it if it's in her water. However, I cannot find any dosage info for this. She is about 7 lbs. Can anyone tell me how much to mix and how much to give her?
My flock has mycoplasma. I have Tylosin but when added to the water they absolutely will not drink it. If I were to add it to some mash, how much should I administer? (Flock of 6) And how often?
Secondly, my biggest hen is limping. I've read it could be from mycoplasma. I intend to watch the...
Stopped eating at some point yesterday. I'm familiar with gi stasis and giving childrens simethicone. The excessive urination...I have no idea what might be happening here as a whole and if there is anything I can do about it? Of course, NO vet is available until Tuesday, late afternoon. Advice...
My three year old has been regularly laying eggs with some blood on them for about two weeks now. Hoped it was just a fluke but now getting worried. They look like the one in the photo.
Is this a cause for concern? She didn't used to have blood on them. What could be causing this?
I wasn't sure where to post this but I figured the DIY folks are most likely to have a solid idea.
I have chicken poop stains on a wooden table that will not come off. They're the almost crusty looking white-ish/grey stains. I've tried apple cider vinegar, dish soap and some regular household...
This implant is no longer available for chickens. For those of you who rely on it, do you know any alternatives?
My hen had emergency surgery to remove an 6 at six months and then was essentially spayed to prevent laying. At the time, my vet stated how important the implant was. Now what...
My 3 year old hen IS eating and drinking, but fatigued and mostly has her head down, with dark brown diarrhea.
They're not laying yet (winter) so assuming not egg bound. Should I give her Tylosin? Something else? Can the whole flock be treated with Tylosin?
One of my hens has a longer than normal beak. She hasn't been free ranging like normal, due to weather conditions, which I'm sure is why it's longer.
Should I attempt a trim? Or wait it out and hope she files it down?
If I should trim it, what's the best, safest way? I'm seeing some say to...
My vet advised I use Tylan powder, added to my flocks water, during times of potential weather stress, I.e. Drastic temperature changes.
My question is...what dosage should I be giving and for how long? I have a 2lb water bowl and six hens. I'm not getting a straight answer from the vet office...
I've been reading local posts about the avian flu being in my area and rumors of jamun seed capsules or tablets being added to chickens water as a potential preventative.
I realize this is not proven in any way. However, have any of you heard of this? Trying it? Or know if it could cause any harm?
There's just one. Are there any issues with adding it to the chicken flock? It would be in the same run, same coop, with free ranging when I'm home.
Should I be concerned about diseases that may spread to my hens?
I came home and noticed one of my girls missing a lot of feathers on her back. Pic below. This doesn't look like molting to me but please tell me if I'm wrong? Could something be wrong here?
I'm thinking of adding two ducks to my flock. They would live in the same coop and spent about half the day free ranging, just as my chickens do. They would also be in a run when not free ranging, with the chickens.
While I would have a pool for them OUTSIDE the run, would it be an issue to not...
I currently use pine shavings but I've read that they cause respiratory issues for chickens. But I'm not sure what else to use?
What do you use? I can't use "yard stuff" as I simply don't have it. I e. Dried leaves and such
Aspen seems pretty expensive but safe?
Hi!
I'm interested in adding 2-3 gals to my flock. The girls I currently have...well, four were ordered online and mailed to me and two were adopted by me as adults.
All my current flock are about two years old.
What is the best, in your opinion, way to add a couple more when age isn't a...
