Another "Surprise" chicken from July 20, 2022 hatching from Cackle Hatchery.

Ok, having difficulty identifying what breed of chicken this one is. She is a large chicken, too fat to get up on the perch at night. I feel like she's a Wyandotte, but has what I'm guessing is "frizzle" on her back. She has rather large feet (cause she's fat?). Any help would be great...

    Guinea questions

In my "Surprise" box I got from Cackle Hatchery, I got 5 guinea keets. From what I understand, they mate for life. My problem is, I think I only have 1 guinea hen and the rest are males. My husband is wanting to dispatch all but the hen and 1 of the males and I feel they should be left as a...

    Broke up broody hen.

I had a very broody hen that I wanted to break up. She was not dedicated to "her" nest of eggs. This went on for 2 months. I took her out of the chicken pen (nest) and brought her home and put her in a dog kennel. We do not have our chickens where we live as they are pretty much outlawed...

    Covers for feeder and waterer

Can anyone tell me where I can purchase a cover large enough to go over like a 60lb Little Giant Feeder? They are 18 1/4" in diameter and closest I can come is 18" with hole in top. I just want to keep the poop out of the water and feed and the chickens off the roofs of them. Thanks!!!

    Which breeds have feathered legs?

This is just a general question about our feather-legged friends. I know Cochins and Silkies have feathered legs, but what other breeds? My "Surprise Box" from Cackle Hatchery had several, about 1/3 at least of feather-legged ones. Just trying to identify these babes. :) One black chick...

Help, I have not been able to identify breed or sex.

This chicken is almost 5 months old and I still don't have a clue. It has blue/grey legs, beak, comb, etc. Not only can I not identify the breed, but can't determine if it's male or female either. I've been calling "it" Graycie. :D Any clues? Thanks!!
