Delete if not ok. Just wanted to share my new favorite sweater I made.
I wanted a sweater with a chicken and duck on it without spending a lot. So I bought a plain black sweater from my local Walmart, some bleach, and a small pack of paint brushes. With a quick google search for my reference...
I plan to use foam board insulation inside my coop, but because I know the birds will pick at it I will be covering it with empty feed bags by stapling it to the boards. Does this sound like a decent idea?
I want to do the boards so that they can be removed in the summer.
Ended up having to get rid of one of my roosters. But gained 2 hens. Introducing Eragon (red one) and Hawk (grey one). Hawk is a little shy and a month younger than the rest.
I don't have any eggs yet. But all three of my hens have been what I like to call "tagged" by 1 of my 2 roosters. So I'm hoping that their first eggs will be fertilized and I plan to hatch them if I can. But I have no idea what I'm doing. I've never had roosters before. What should I expect from...
Anyone got any pictures of chicken toys they've made. My flock is looking bored. And one of my roosters keep crowing all day. Want to try some DIY toys to entertain them. Preferably something I can make from stuff I may already have. Want a variety of things to try. Thanks in advance.
I have 2 roosters. 1 is an Americana mix, the other is a Delaware mix. The Americana don't crow very often. But my Delaware I swear crows for 10 minutes every hour. He wasn't this vocal a week ago. I'm worried my neighbors will complain. One of our other neighbors has a rooster that crows but...
This being my first time having ducks I have no idea what I'm doing this wind. Spring and summer was a breeze. But not the nights are getting colder and our neighbors trees are just starting to change color. Fall is just weeks away probably even sooner. So with that being said, how do I...
What does a male Pekin duck look like? I thought I had two female ducks, but my husband said that he's sure he saw one mount the other. Only thing is we can't tell them apart except for one is slightly taller. But you can't tell unless they are next to each other. I tried looking it up on Google...
I was in my camper office which is right next to my chicken pen. I was eating a chocolate ice cream bar when a gust of wind came through and blew the wrapper off the table and out the window into the pen. One chicken noticed and ran to it. I ran out to grab it before she ate any. But...
I know it's really difficult to tell. But anyone got any ideas which hen it came from? I know that technically it doesn't matter but I find it fun to know ones are laying and this is the second chicken egg we've got.
(The picture with two chickens are both hens.)
Thankfully I don't have an egg bound yet. But want to know what to do if one of my birds has one. I've never had to deal an egg bound egg and hope to never have to. But since it's always possible I want to be prepared.
1. How to I know?
2. How do I take care of it?
One of my two ducks laid her first egg today. I won't have believed it was from a duck because of how small it was. But my husband saw the whole thing. Said she tried to lay it in the duck pool. That it popped out just as she jumped in. It was a soft shell but we're getting them oyster shells...
Does anyone have a Delaware/silver laced wyandotte mix rooster. I think mine may be one but I'm not sure. The chicken is a little larger then my hens but I'm not sure if that's the Delaware side talking. My parents have a full Delaware and she's huge. Mine has two tail feathers that look like...
