Chickens aren’t eating their layer feed

I normally give them two scoops of layer feed, and a scoop of cracked corn. There’s close to 50 chickens in the pen. Things to consider: 1. I do not add in treats except what bugs they can scratch up in the pen. It’s definitely not a kid eating dessert for dinner issue. 2. I have not switched...

Welp… time to admit I have a problem.

I will begin by saying this: it was not my plan last night to come home with over ten yards of fabric. I was going in and out of Mardens to get a crib quilt’s worth of peach and white fabric that was very beautiful and I loved very much in my brain. That would only amount to two yards plus a...

We got kittens (more of them!)

They’re in the greenhouse. I stumbled upon them when I was getting diatomaceous earth for the nesting boxes. I guess I know why the cat was catching so many of my chickens…

What do you want to breed into your barnyard mixes?

What do you consider to be the most desirable traits in breeding your barnyard mixes? A cool feather pattern? Beards? For me it is orange feathers mixed in with grey or black feathers. I would absolutely love to breed in some beards to my marans as well.

So I need a large incubator. Like, 50-100 eggs. Preferably a tiered one but I can deal with single layers. MUST have auto turning. What would you guys recommend?

    It’s not May yet!!!

Clearly the ram was up to no good, because we have a set of twin lambs that were popping out when my mom took care of her sheep this morning. (Picture credit to my mom) Supposedly there is one boy and one girl. Mom is planning on naming them Lee and Rosemary after the characters from When Calls...

    RIP Lancelot, 2022-24

Today I found my dear Lancelot dead in the bachelor pad. All ripped up, head off, etc. I’m thinking not a Coon, or a weasel. I did not take pictures though, just buried him. We will miss you, my dear rooster.
