    Damaged beak? Or virus?

One of my 4 week old BCM chicks has this strange beak growth on her bottom beak I just noticed a couple days ago. She eats and drinks and it isn’t bleeding but it looks strange. The nostril was shut when I first discovered it so I soaked it with Vetericyn to clean it out. Everyday I have...

Barnvelder sexing. Why is it so difficult!?

Hello BYC crew, I have this 11 week old Barnvelder “pullet” that is starting to look a little red in the comb and acts dominant towards the other pullets. I’m hoping I’m wrong, and she might just be bossy but it looks like Barnvelders are difficult to sex until they lay or crow. Any experts out...

    Too early to say?

Cuckoo Marans. They are 4 weeks old today. Do you think I have one pullet and one cockerel? The Right One in the photo has a slightly bigger comb and has a tint more red to it. Is it too soon to tell? I really want two pullets but I’m starting to think I got a cockerel mixed in.

7 Week old Black Copper Maran

Pullet or Cockerel? I have always wanted my own BCM and this year I finally got one…supposed to have been vent sexed as a pullet (90% accuracy) but in my experience a red comb this early means cockerel. It is 7 weeks old now. Someone please tell me that BCM pullets have big red combs early? I...

Roo? Light Brahma 6 weeks old

My only light Brahma is turning 6 weeks old this week. The comb is more red than any of the other 6 week old chicks but those are all different breeds. Do you think this is going to be a rooster? I just don’t have any other light brahams to compare the tail or wings to.

Both Roos? Or maybe 1 pullet?

I have these two Easter Eggers from Tractor supply that are turning 9 weeks old. They were from a straight run and the last time I posted photos they were 4 weeks old and you all said “2x Roos” Now I have found one a home and I want your opinions again before I give them away. 1. Do you think...

    Easter Egger Roos?

5/23/23 update: more photos added. These two Easter eggers were straight runs from Tractor Supply, 6 weeks old today. The first photo is one I think is a pullet but it’s head is much whiter than it’s body. Photo two (and three) has acted like a roo since day one, with stink eye, puffed chest...
