    egg bound with soft shells?

My chicken was walking around slowly and has a history of being egg bound so out of precaution I took her inside and did an epsom salt bath soak. I could tell she was straining to push something out. After about an hour and a half, I was finally able to feel a soft shelled egg inside her, which...

Help me find where to send my chicken for necropsy?

Hi, I apologize this doesn’t exactly fit the forum but I wasn’t sure where to post. I’m trying to figure out where I can send my chicken for necropsy. I live in Richmond, VA. Can someone also talk me through the process for how I get this done? Thank you.

    Crop not emptying and limping

I have a chicken who only wants to lay down, is limping a little and her crop doesn’t appear to have emptied over the night. Her crop is not hard, but it is not sour crop. Just feels like some food in there. I’ve been massaging it and I think it has emptied some. No sign of external injury. She...

    Newcastle transmission distance?

I’m starting to think my bird may have Newcastle. My next door neighbor recently brought home some new ducks and I’m considering the possibility they had something. Our birds never intermingle, but they are about 40 yards away or so. Could Newcastle be transmitted by the air that far?

    Green poop

One of my birds is acting a little off and I noticed she pooped this green poop. She is usually one of my friendliest and runs right up to us but she is isolating a bit more. I gave her scrambled eggs and a tomato and she ate those. But should I be concerned about this poop?

    Red, irritated vent and bottom

One of my hens has these inflamed looking follicles and I also noted that the top edge of her vent is red and irritated like a diaper rash. She otherwise appears normal. What’s going on?

    WORMS - anybody used this??

One of my chickens pooped worms- photo below. I know I have to treat them all, went looking for Fenbendazole and found this which seems easier than weighing them all and dosing them all. Has anybody used this and can confirm it works the same?

Chicken appetite low after crop surgery

Did crop surgery on my 5mo old buff. She seemed pretty good immediately after, ate some egg yesterday. Today, (two days later) she will really only eat apple sauce. Is it abnormal for her to not be too interested in eating? I imagine she could be sore. I have offered watered down food, egg...

    Post-crop surgery care

I did at home crop surgery on my girl. She’s definitely malnourished after a week of crop struggles and fluctuating appetite. How soon can I give her food and water?? I worry she is very weak and may not hang on if dehydrated and needing food too long

chicken with crop issues - next steps

I've been posting on here for about a week now. My 5-month-old buff initially had what I believe was an impacted crop. The vet gave us a medication to assist with motility, gave the last dose last night. I believe it turned sour. It feels balloon-like and full of air, when I massage it makes...

Impacted crop, sour crop, now feels inflated with air?

Is this normal for a sour crop to feel filled with air? It was impacted before, then it became sour, now I can barely even feel food in it, it just feels filled with air like a partially blown up balloon. I have tried EVERYTHING aside from monistat so I was going to try that now. Just wanting to...

    Impacted crop turned sour

I noticed my chicken had an impacted crop on Friday. I thought we were about past it earlier, the doctor gave us Cisapride to assist with crop motility. But now, I think she has sour crop. It’s like a balloon filled with air. I’m so worried because she hasn’t had the ability to eat much of...

Impacted crop- strange green, foul smelling poop

I posted before about my girl with an impacted crop. I’ve gotten her moving some and she’s pooped, but it’s all very dark greenish and smells horrible. Not like a cecal poop or ammonia, like gasoline like? There is a chemical quality to it. Very strong. Anyone know what this smell is or had...

Impacted crop won’t clear after 48 hours

I noticed my chicken’s crop hadn’t cleared 48 hours ago. She is a 6mo old buff. Since then, I have been massaging it frequently with coconut and olive oil, I tube fed 15ml water twice, I gave 200ml docusate sodium, I’ve tried everything I’ve seen that could be a solution. I thought it could be...

My favorite chicken is showing balance issue, head shaking, and keeps trying to preen but doesn’t seem to have the coordination to. Please watch to the end of the video to see that. Our little cockerel’s poop looks like this, it looks mousse-like, airy and light almost and this light brown/yellowish color. concerning? Lethargic bird, sudden onset

One of our most active Forager’s, top of the pecking order hands started laying down a lot today appearing on interested in eating and somewhat of a squishy abdomen. I’m not sure if I’m just now noticing this change in abdomen or if this is what it always feels like. Not overly squishy but just...
