We had a chick hatch on its own at 21 days and it’s got what looks like a yolk sac that isn’t absorbed? What should I do for this? It’s a very lively chick so I’d love to help it, if it can be helped. We’ve got it in the incubator by itself since it was the last to hatch.
I had an egg that is the last to hatch. Hatching day was 2 days ago. I did here chirping in egg for a few hours yesterday but nothing today and no movement in the egg. No pip. How long should I leave it in there?
I told the rural king person I wanted 3 light brahmas and showed him the correct ones and then walked away to go look at the other chicks. Well the guy was already annoyed and just threw 3 random chicks in there and wouldn’t let me pick out what I wanted in the other bins so now I have no idea...
I was thinking this brahma mix (so I’m calling it) was a hen. No comb hardly at all and hasn’t crowed…..UNTIL this morning she was crowing a very sad crow 😅 so is she really a he? I’m still hoping she’s a hen that crows but I fear I’m wrong.
My chicks are starting to grow out and I’m afraid I have quite a few Roos. I would be correct in assuming these are Roos? I’m not going to rehome yet until I hear crowing but what do you all think? All are silkie mixes minus the turken.
So we went away for 3 days and our helper forgot to check under the hens. Obviously there is growth so we did toss them in the incubator. Why not ya know? However, apparently there was an egg we miss because it is much further along than the other eggs. My question is, how far along do you...
Just wanted to share some of my recent hatches. Most of these are all silkie mixes but are thankfully growing more like full sized chicks. My favorite is the prairie bluebell egger that is starting to frizzle. Can’t wait to see how they all grow!! The BCM silkie mix has huge feathers on its feet.
I have chickens dying like crazy and I have no clue what’s wrong. They are all healthy, no weight issues, no mites lice or anything that I can physically see. One was running around happy, laid an egg that morning then boom dead. Random. I’ve lost 7 chickens and I’m afraid more will die and I...
I currently am getting out of silkies due to them laying such small eggs and honestly having a lot of health issues even with us doing everything possible to help keep them clean etc.
so I was looking at polish and I am getting mixed things online. I see some saying they are the same size of...
Only my 3rd batch of incubation and this egg has such a strange air sac. These were fresh eggs not shipped. Since lockdown is tomorrow I’m keeping it in there but just wondering if anyone else has had this happen. I think it’s still a good egg but we will see once it hatches.
So we live in a HOA and roosters aren’t allowed due to “they are to loud” even though hens can be loud too but whatever. As you know it’s impossible to never end up with a rooster and we have had three for the last three months and it took us literally 3 months to just give them away. So...
We have a sick silked Easter egger. Both wings down. Tail down. Skinny and losing weight. We have her isolated with some water with added recovery 911 and vitamin B complex. We just euthanized a chicken at the vet that suspected Mareks. This one isn’t presenting the same. There isn’t a one sided...
This egg has been like this for 8 hours. Membrane is starting to dry out and turn brown. The last time this happened I had to assist the chick out. Should I wait a little longer before assisting? I don’t want to ruin the other eggs. Most have pipped but not made any progress in the 8hrs I’ve...
These silkies are 4 days old. Should I be able to tell if they are frizzle or not? The white one and showgirl are the ones I’m wondering if they are frizzle or not.
I have an ameracauna that is acting strange and she is the only sick one in the flock so we have her in a small crate away from everyone. At first she was walking but stumbling and unbalanced. Now she is almost paralyzed in a way. She can move her legs but if she stands she will eventually...
Day 8. I’ve already had to pull out quite a few eggs. 7 were empty and 1 was a quitter. I’m thinking this one is a quitter too. I could be wrong but it doesn’t look quite right in my little experience I have. What do you all think?
Before I toss these two eggs I want confirmation. These are day 12-14 on incubation. Am I correct in saying these are not viable. All the others are way darker with big veins.le
Would this guy be some type of Rhode Island Red? Wanting to incubate some eggs and was just curious what type of mix he might be. He’s a handsome guy and has a lovely attitude.
