I posted recently about our leghorn Barnevelder cross chicks. they are now 11 weeks old. All this time the indicators have been that they are pullets. And they still have smaller combs and wattles that are still pink except when they were a little flushed here after I let them out for a forage...
The black is definitely a boy. So far I’m thinking 3 boys 1 girl.
4 weeks old, from purebred blue Barnevelder rooster and white leghorn hens.
It’s so awesome watching these ones develop with them being cross breeds and definitely can’t tell gender straight off 😂
Just a bit of fun and will...
Help please
I tried to search but get different answers.
My hubby put water in the incubator but I just checked and it’s too much.
The humidity is sitting at 82% and I don’t know how long it’s been that high. I tried to take water out but still it says 82%.
We are on day 8 and have chicks and...
Just wanting to confirm that these are not fertilised yet huh. We have had our older quails for 2 months now so they will be about 4 months old. Trying to check fertility rate but still don’t seem to be. They are so hard to see compared to chicken eggs 😂
2 weeks old and still can’t walk properly 😩 we have them on vitamins. Enough protein with game bird crumble and meat and bone mix. We had nothing but trouble with this lot and won’t get eggs from this woman again.

Edit: we are in New Zealand so no avian flu.
Long post sorry.
Ideas please. Wrote this up but never posted yesterday. She still is picking at food today and I feel like no improvement in the mornings. Still sounds rattly. At night she seems to be settled more and less rattly and snotty. 2 more...
8 weeks old. Safe to say pullet? First time having Orpington babies and people tell me it’s hard to tell gender with them but she barely has any comb and she is now 8 weeks old today.
Not quite 4 weeks and looking like I was wrong about 1 cockerel and 1 pullet?
The one I thought was a pullet (light one) is getting little wattles. I’m so unsure of this breed though.
We have 2 babies that hatched nearly 3 weeks ago and I hear Pekin chickens are easy to tell the gender by 3 weeks. I’m thinking the black one is a boy so far. Any ideas or too soon to tell?
First time poster long time reader.
I know it’s early as they are only 3 weeks but any ideas on gender yet? I’m thinking the black is a boy. I hope pics can be seen here as not sure I have done it right. I may need to add them to my YouTube
