I know future roos will have blue/black breast feathers but unsure of when it shows?
I hatched 4 blue laced barnevelder eggs about 5 weeks ago and I'm incredibly impatient.
What breeds can yellow crested chicks be? Local feed store has hatchery choice crested and I'm considering it. Ideally, I want a couple of buff laced polish. There are several solid yellow crested chicks in the bunch, what are the odds that they're buff laced? What else could they be?
How much does the rooster influence egg color vs the hen? If I only hatch my darkest or darkest speckled eggs, will I get more darker laying hens? Or is all just kind of a gamble?
I know it's hard to say for certain what genes a mutt might be carrying but I'd love to hear your opinions. Is she carrying blue or lavender? The rooster tail in one photo is a lavender Orpington.
