I have 6 young 3 month old chickens that I got within a week of one another. 3 of them are white Silkies of yet to be determined sex. The smallest of these (it has only recently caught up in size) still only peeps and cheeps like a chick! All of my other chickens make adorable chicken clucks...
I have noticed in the last week or so that 3-4 of my 6 chicks choose to bed down on top of the brooder plate when they go to sleep. I have it set at the highest height setting and the house temp is around 70⁰. Should I be raising it even higher by using blocks or something?

My 1.5 -2 week old Lavender Orpington (Pearl) is my friendliest chick and comes right up to me every time I open the brooder. It's my fave! I really am not able to keep roosters and so I am hoping that it's a pullet.
