So we have a mixed flock of about 40 birds sharing a run, out of those birds we have a buff brahma roo and a white silkie roo. We have several silkies (around 8 that are black and buff in color) who we were trying to breed but it seems like our white silkie roo, named dirty bob, likes the...
Hey Yall,
Have a couple of broody hens, 1 is a black silkie, other is a buff brahma, seems like they will take turns sitting on the same clutch of eggs on and off, but mostly the black silkie.
Not gonna lie, Im a pretty big and burly man whos in LE, and seeing this little silkie pilfering eggs...
Hey yall,
Just threw in our first batch of hatching eggs last night...around 20 silkie eggs and a couple of copper marans...honestly not sure if the silkie eggs are even fertilized since our silkie roo, Dirty Bob, seems to prefer the "bigger" girls being brahmas etc. Wish us luck!
Hey yall,
the chicken run is pretty much like fort knox...so no worries about that. When we free range we are always outside.
Question is, we have around 2 acres of land we cant to fence in to keep the chickens wandering off into the neighbors property...they have never indicated they didnt...
Hey Yall,
Central New York here. Been a very SNOWY and rainy last 6 months. We have a 18x13 coop inside of a 50x50 run with around 40 chickens. They, naturally, decimated the grass that was there and have been researching ideas to add some shrubs etc into their run and maybe some lattice with...
Hey yall,
wanted to share my waterer I built that works well, will post pics when I can.
Have a 55 gallon drum raised off the ground on a platform with a "bung" I attached inside the drum for threaded 1/2" pvc run off of it. PVC then splits to two opposite sides of fencing to a chicken area...

Looking for ideas or pictures to keep my girls busy in their run...was thinking like a jungle gym kind of thing with a roost and bridge a few feet off ground, maybe a mounted string to attach snacks such as fruit or veggies like lettuce head or cabbage...any other ideas come to mind?
Hey yall,
We have a lot of aerial predators where we live such as hawks, eagles and other various predators and wanted to share something that has worked very well for us if anyone needs ideas.
We have a 50'x50' chicken run and a separate attached 50'x20' run all surrounded with 6' high 2x4...
So some of you might remember I posted looking for a heritage tom as we have 4 ten month old hens that are heritage breeds. Our goal was to mate our hens and hatch some eggs to sell or keep. So back to the story...
I posted a few times on Facebook and finally got someone that said they had a...

I have 5 turkeys, honestly I am not sure anymore who is male or female, we always thought we had 5 females, three of which are Narragansetts and 2 are bronze breasted and both are heritage housed in a 50'x20' penned area.
A few days ago, came home to see a Narragansett wrapped its leg in line I...
Hello Everyone,
Curious if any other turkey owners like to bring their turkeys on walks? That being said, mine are very much like a dog, but id like to harness them up to bring them with me certain places.
Any ideas on harnesses that could work? Would a chicken harness work? Or would i need a...
Hey everyone,
We have 28 hens and 4 oosters (1 brahma and 3 silkie roos and might re-home 2 roos) and 6 ducks (2 male 4 females) in a 50'x50' covereed/enclosed run with a 10'x18' chicken coop and a small separate duck house inside the run. The birds are roughly 20.5 weeks old with a hatch date...
Hey guys!
So we have 2 different square shaped runs connected with a 6' high fence down the middle. The first pen has 40 chickens and 6 ducks, the other has 5 turkeys. My thinking is this:
I want to have a watering system for both, maybe 20-30 gallons made out of PVC with maybe an auto float...
Hello everyone,
picked up 5 heritage breed poults. They are bopping around and seem happy, however I'm concerned they're not eating "enough". They're eating Purina Game Bird starter/grower crumbles but I feel like for the 5 of them they don't seem to be eating enough for some reason, they're...
Hello all and welcome!
Looking for a little help. Currently, we have a 10'X18' chicken coop for 40 birds (2 Roosters and 38 Hens) and a small duck house next to the chicken coop and small tub for our 6 ducks all sitting inside a 50'x50' chicken run. Our chicken run is accessible to the chickens...
