Hi all!
I've had a broody hen sitting on some eggs for 22 days now.
I candled the eggs this morning to confirm movement however when putting one back, the hen pecked at it. It's a small hole but a little drop of blood came out... I've never hatched chicks before so not quite sure what to do...
Hello everyone!
I'm curious if anyone has had Cornish cross chickens as "pets"?
I ended up purchasing 2 as chick's last year, one unfortunately passed young but the other one is still living her best life (minus developing some wry neck yesterday)
Has anyone kept Cornish hens long term? And...
I'm not sure if this is something to worry about, but my rooster has this bald spot on his leg.
He is currently in the indoor chicken hospital as he suffered some bad frostbite. He is almost healed up but I noticed this balding starting to happen.
He acting normal, eating, drinking, looks happy...
My poor guy has bad frostbite. How can I help him heal and get better? I've read alot of threads but there is alot of mixed opinions which is making things a bit confusing.
It's been 2 nights of -41 Celsius with wind chill in northern Ontario ( Canada )
All of my hens are ok but this poor guy...
Hi all!
I purchased Ayam cemani chick's a few weeks ago and they are now 5-6 weeks old.
I live in northern Ontario, Canada and the Temps are now hitting -25 Celsius at night.
How do I transition them to an outdoor coop? Should I offer some kind of heat (other than heat lamp)
I currently have...
My bresse hens have always had floppy combs but lately I'm noticing dark spots on some of them. One even have a chunk missing? What could.be causing this.
They are bit on the paler side however I treated them for coccidiosis 2 weeks ago. They have slowly been turning redder since.
Should I be...
Found these 2 poops in my coop this morning.
Chickens are acting normal and still eating / drinking.
I know blood in stool is normally a sign of coccidiosis but could there be any other reason?
Also, is amprolium the only/best option for treatment?
Thank you
I found this black chicken poop in my chicken coop this morning. Never saw any before today.
Is this something I should be concerned about?
They all look happy / healthy.
Thanks
I purchased some chicks last spring.
Got some Bresse, Astrolorps and cornish cross.
I am looking to breed some cornish cross in the spring but I'm assuming my current ones are not going to last that long.
How do people breed cornish cross chickens?
Hey guys,
I went out this afternoon to check on my flock and noticed my rooster (Bresse - 17 weeks old) start gagging?
Only did it a few times and seems to have stopped.
Looks healthy and acting normal. It is 35 degrees Celsius out. Could it just be the heat?
Thanks
Hi all!
I purchased a few breeds of chicks in the spring and ended up with 2 cornish cross hens.
They are now 17 weeks old, however one was always quite skinny / bony and the other deffinately large and healthy.
The smaller one has always eaten and drank and never gave us a reason to be...
