My hens have been sleeping inside their coop, rather than on their perches since the weather has gotten colder. This morning we opened the coop to check for eggs and there was a dead squirrel in there, right where the girls sleep. Would the hens do this? There were no obvious wounds.
Any idea what could have caused this? We are new chicken owners, with only five hens.
The hens are molting, but I don’t know if this is related. Chickaletta is the only one with this wound.
My husband and I have five Leghorn hens. We enjoy our girls and want to make sure we are taking the best care of them so they will live long, happy lives.
